Default Top Challenge, Montreal, Canada

October 3,4, the Top Challenge will run in Montreal, Canada. They'll run street luge, DH skateboard, DH inline skates and DH "DirtSurfers" on the same course, and a unique qualifying process that doesn't involve timed runs (or even a timing system).

Chris Chaput, who's the "returning luge champ" for this event, posted in his NCDSA forum that he's going to Montreal and that people won't be able to guess what he's "bringing". Skateboard racing's "mad scientist" must have been busy designing something special for the course!

I took another look at that link, and they've got a graphic of the race course. I can't tell how steep it it, but it's only got a few, kinda large, sweeper turns in it. They're calling it a "hill", so that sounds fast...

Depending on winds, on that "hill" we can get up to 85km/h (53 MPH)
on standup (and maybe 95km/h on a luge).

Chaput is supposed to show up with a 83mm Centerset Gumball.
That could well be "the wheel" for speedboarding.

No, I won't make it. Thor, you and Directive oughta take photos and post 'em here on the 'fish, along with some race commentary! The rest of us will appreciate it!

Now why would Chaput go and do that... make me want yet another bloody set of green wheels. 83mm centerset Gumball, beautiful... do you have any links per chance?

No, I heard it was an 83mm, offset NoSkoolz! Or maybe "what we'll never guess" is that he'll run the course on 72mm Pink Powerballs in some new, harder durometer... Would pink Gumballs be "BubbleGums"? What about 135mm, 75a Flywheels? Anyone seen the proto-photo?

Hey, what if the big surprise is that Chaput found a Barney helmet to match his speedsuit, and he's tucked a tape-player into it so he can play The Song during the race? Who could possibly keep up with him while they're clamping their hands around their heads to block the noise??!

On a more serious note, check out the registration list updates, up above. This is filling out to be a field full of hot names!

Well, the racers are arriving in town, and the internet weather reports suggest that Montreal may see a race without rain, this time!
