Newfoundland Longboarders?

Hey, I'm just starting longboarding, and about to move to St. John's, Newfoundland. I was wondering if anyone is from there and could give me a few tips about longboarding in general, as well as longboarding around St. John's in particular. I am comfortable just tearing around and figuring it all out for myself, but it never hurts to hear the voice of experience.
