The longboard scene here is really growing...big time. Go to Red Nik Surf Co. by Mt. Royal or giv'em a call (403)685-4600; they've got alot of info, good stock on equip. and most of the people there ride. I should know...I work there from time to time. I'm just getting into it now, but I'll be looking for people to ride with when the weather gets really nice.
yes im currently in calgary at the moment, but heading backhome tomorrow morning, but yah i picked my board up from rednik's and my sis just picked up her board a week ago from there, give Confederation park a try(roughly 5 blocks north of SAIT (14th ave and 16th street NW)), lots of slight and steep hills with plenty of drop-ins onto the main trails, im disapponted that i cannot hit that park one last time before i go (its so damn windy out). Be back in the fall though

I've heard of a few people talking about Confed. park being pretty rad for riding. Never been though; I guess I'm gonna have to check it out this summer.
Yea i liove in calgary and have been riding here since 1998. Theres some fun stuff around, just need to get out and find it. Im not one for going 80 million miles an hour, i prefer to carve up streets, and ride realy turny bike paths, and of course hit up the parkades for some nascar style racing with the boys. DT has some really fun parkades to hit up, and signal hill is where its at for bike paths.
One more thing. A few years ago, there was a core group of guys riding under the Research Gravity Sport Banner in Calgary. It was the best downhill, longboard online store around, but its not opperating anymore. Darren, the owner was a class act and really stepped up the Longboard scene here, including getting us access to the kicking horse resorts main road. the thing was closed off for us and we hit it all day long, deffinately a highlight of my skating days. We were also on some sport show. the sent a camera crew out to tape us all day long, it was great. tehres a big hairpin on the road as well, and loads of golden locals came out to watch the happenings. the tv crew needed to do interviews, so i stepped up, and man o man was i ever a total tool on camera! heres a link to the pictures from that great day.
