I lived in Ottawa for 20 years, can't really think of good spots to ride your stick over there but then again I didnt skate back then, so I didn't have the eye for spotting hills.
However, if you do come to Montreal, go to the walkway in Lafontaine park on a saturday or sunday afternoon, your sure to meet a bunch of us there. You'll also find longboarders around the olympic stadium, there are some sweet hills there. Be sure to go by Spin skateshop on St-denis too, there's always a friendly longboarder there who will show you around. If you do, we'll take you to some of the longest, smootest rides in the city.
see you around maybe..

I just moved here from Vancouver, and the longboarding scene is much bigger out west... I dont actually have my own board yet... and i'm going crazy without it!!!! do you think it would be worth the trip to montreal just to look at boards? I'm really interested in MotionLongboards... they are in montreal, ever heard of them? (www.motionlongboards.com)
peace!

Actually, were kind of limited in choice for boards here, its either sector 9 or motion. I ride with a few skateshop manager and there trying hard to get the longboard thing going here, but the owners are slow to catch on. The thing about motions is that they sell their sticks for 180$ just for the deck. So its sector 9 for me. (I ride a cosmic 2 with randals 180 and madrids 67. Im looking at the classic pintail to expand my quiver)
I dont know what kind of choice you have in Ottawa, there's always the online option. whatever yo do, do it fast, the seasons is almost over. I dont know about you but im dreaing the winter. (I dont snowboard, too expensive)

wow, that's suprising, I had heard that Montreal was huge into longboarding... I found Landyachtz and Sector 9 here in ottawa, and a couple other "handmade" companies.... but nothing caught my eye...
Have you or anyone you know tried a motion deck? I'm wondering if it will be too flexy for regular city skating (not bombing hills) I am used to riding a surf one classic which is a really really stiff deck, any idea on motion?
I'll definately check out those locations in montreal when i get my board!
peace

I was exagerating, you can find a lot of other brands but availability is very inconsistentcompared to sector 9. Its not rare to get into a skateshop and find thatthey are out of longboarding trucks or wheels, even decks some times. Longboarding sure is getting more popular here, i would'nt say its huge though. I still get weird looks and questions when I cruise around and kids with short boards dont know what to make of us.
One thing's for sure, we have tons of nice hills...

Hey I live in Ottawa, and I ride a FlexDex. There aren't too many good hills in ottawa, but i find cruising around downtown is alot of fun, plus I live right on top of a hill so not matter which way i skate from my house it is downhill makes for alot of fun in the summer. I can't wait for this snow to melt so I can get back out... already had my board out once this season, but salt is my enemy!! hehe. I want to move to montreal, that city is nothing but hills, ill definedly check out those spots you mentioned the next time im in mtl pablo.
