LIVESTRONG 24-hour Ultra Skate -- Seattle and beyond
In the 2nd or 3rd week of May, a group of us are going for an all-day / all-night longboarding session in Seattle, launching a fundraising effort for the Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG foundation. It's in part a training preparation for longboarding this summer's STP event in July. And synching up his start time from SoCal, a buddy named Trevor who boarded up the coast from Mexico to Canada last year, will do this ride along with us -- connected with the shared goal to raise awareness.
All the details and online donation form are here:

This year, the LAF will lead a group of 200 advocates to Washington, DC, to meet with congressional leaders and demand that legislators invest in resources, treatment, and services for everyone battling cancer. Your donations will help others who are diagnosed with cancers to live long and productive lives.
If you're interested in boarding any part of the ride with us, please contact pavedwave@comcast.net
The ride and donation support already has been incredibly encouraging, thank you!

Re: LIVESTRONG 24-hour Ultra Skate -- Seattle and beyond
I'd be down if I can get the dates early enough. 24hour skate day? awesome. I've always wanted to do an endurance day, either long distance or big time. Let me know the dates so I can get the time off of work, and the day after because I know I'll be tired the next day.

Re: LIVESTRONG 24-hour Ultra Skate -- Seattle and beyond
All right, I threw down a few bucks for James on his 24hour skate-a-thon. I think it's awesome that he has alot of support from other CSA riders.
It would be cool if more SF'ers put up a few bucks to support James and a cool CSA crew on their 24-hour session.
Right on Gnar Dog!!

art, cat and jim -- thanks for the support!
great hearing ride ideas from locals, one was taking the Burke to the Velodrome for opening race night, do some laps there (if the Vel agrees) and ride back during the sunset...will check it out, it'd be fun to mix it up and easier for some eastsiders to hop on the ride

Appreciate all the good vibes!! And Cat you're the original cool Cat!!
Thanks for the stories as well -- civil, i hope you're able to provide encouragement, a laugh, or a least some levity for your friend at some point. my niece was a very proud, positive-thinking young woman and as such, many of us didn't know the severity of her condition or get to say much until too late.
d-tea, cool to see you here, and lookin forward to the ride! we'll stick with May 11th unless its stormin. no doubt it'll be blazing sunshine in your 'hood.
Our start/lap point will be the southwest "stadium" corner of Green Lake as parking's a lot less crowded there.

hey, baby ...uhhhhhhhhhhh hehehehe ... hehehehehe... this is gonna be cool.
You know who really rocks is Gareth Roe.
He'll be riding Friday, and is now kicking in a Roe deck to the person who donates the highest amount by 8 a.m. May 11th -- right now that would be $101. - thanks G! (and yes if you've already donated, any subsequent donation will be totalled with the existing one)
And kudos to other sponsors who've jumped on board:
Khiro Bob , finest bushings on planet Earth
Ryan from Monster Energy drinks

edit: great time at the lake -- Seth, Kimmy and Alan -- hope to see you guys again on the 11th. Based on this evenings ride I'd rather stay at the lake and not do the Burke-Gilman Friday. As crowded as green lake can get, Stone Way would be hairy to push back up --- so I think we'll be staying at the lake for the duration! Way to keep up a fast pace Kimmy!

Re: LIVESTRONG 24-hour Ultra Skate -- Seattle and beyond
I skated from Old Town S.D. to just south of the Oceanside Pier than headed back crashed once ok but later in La Jolla crashed again. On the ground for sometime before I limped to P.B. then lightly skated to Mission Beach then walked skate then walked past Sports areana into old town. My hole hip is black with gouge in the center, shoulder sore, elbo few gouges, knee black and purple. With a not so direct path (such as you would have in a car on the 5freeway) and some stops and crash 14.5hrs 8:30 to 11:00pm
This was my practice run on the 5th of May
I still want to skate 24hrs but I may have to wait and see how the hip is doing.
