Time for another tutorial on one of the many features offered here on SF.
We'll be talking about using the Event feature, which I haven't really payed attention to during my stay here at Silverfish. This thing is insanely helpful.
Now this Events feature is extremely simple to use and VERY helpful when you want to find out where your local competitions and/or events are. The Events feature focuses on using specific days in months to give you a little showing of what is going on around the skating world.
Where is the Events tab?
The Events tab is located up top of the Silverfish page between the GEAR tab and the GALLERIES tab. Hover your cursor over EVENTS to see the drop-down menu.
The drop-down menu lists three alternate tabs: Events, Submit Event, and All Events.
Click Events. This will bring up a full page calendar showing you the majority of outlaws, general skate sessions, and IGSA events.
Hovering your cursor (image) over any of the hyperlinks will give you a little glimpse of the information on the event.
Clicking any of these links on the Events calendar will bring you to a full page write-up of the proposed Event (website, contact info, gear required, location, camping, discipline, etc). Feel free to click away.
This will be on the top right of the event information page. Just click for a reminder or get the information e-mailed to you for you to forward around.
This small calendar, which is shown after clicking the Events tab, gives you a glimpse of past events and future events. Simply hover over the hyperlinked dates for extra
information on the event.
How do I add an event?
Click the second listed tab under EVENTS, Submit Event. All you have to do here is fill in whatever information you have for your event. After you submit it, your event will show up in the Events calendar for everyone to view. Make sure you leave sufficient contact and event information so word spreads around about your event.
Is there an easier way to view all of the events going on?
Click the third listed tab under EVENTS, All Events. This will show you all of the events submitted onto Silverfish. You can use this to scan through for events near you, near a location you'll be visiting, or for an open date for you to submit your own event.
I gave it a try for myself and submitted my own event.
Hopefully now that there's a little instructional on how to use this event function there will be more skate sessions and less whining on Silverfish.
Take advantage of this function, I didn't know it was available till a few weeks ago and since then I've been scanning around for places to skate with fellow 'Fish.
Feel free to add any advice/comments/recommendations of your own.
The sage, Longboard Buddha once said, "A tree spends 100% of its lifetime in a static environment and only after its reincarnation as a deck is it allowed to move at fast speeds...
when allowed, the wood will give thankless service if
allowed to flow."
