The first longboard endurance race (push race) in Montréal will take place during October 18th and 19th week-end.
This event is about touring the city of Montreal by joining each checkpoints setup at various strategic places. The suggested preliminary path is 17 kms long (including 3-4 kms of downhill) emphasizes the use of bicycle lanes and is accessible to all levels. Bring an helmet (mandatory), gloves and a lunch if desired. The route takes about 1 hour to complete and checkpoints will not be revealed until October 16th.
The unofficial event will take place on Saturday, October 18th or Sunday, October 19th in case of rain on Saturday. The riders are expected at the subway station Université de Montréal at 9:30 am. The specifications of the final details of the race (yes, there will be surprises !!!), and final registration (payment, discharge, allocating numbers ...) will take place at this time. The start is scheduled for 10:30 PRECISE. At this moment, volunteers will already be in place.
If desired, a vehicle will be available to move any personal belonging directly at the finish situated in a park, whose location will be revealed on October 18th. We will eat together and then join the "Caserne" for a slide session (jam format).
The entry fee is $ 5 and ALL the money will be redistributed among the fastest riders (to be determined the day of the event according to the number of participants).
Depending on availability, some prices offered by sponsors will be drawn at random from the riders and volunteers to give everyone the chance to leave with something else than pleasure!
I won't be able to make it to the push race..... but, as of right now: me and wells are coming for sunday's mac attack race (maybe another 1 or 2 ppl as well) . We'll be driving up saturday and then leaving sunday night. Anybody have somewhere for us to crash on saturday night? a westmount session saturday evening/night would be rad too.
ps. we might take a detour on the way to hit an 8 mile closed road......with a gondola to the top.
edit: mason is coming.

If, however, it's the latter, save your money for travel costs and race entry fees. Riding different terrain and with other skaters will make you a better/faster skater than dropping a grand on a toy." - Mile High Mark
