I'd really love to be involved in this for next season, if people are interested and send me their plans for setting up races I can do a bit of organizing. I.E. Maintain a thread for it post the events, keep track of scores, try to get some sponsorships although everyone is going to have to work on that one to be most successful. Let me know if anyone is opposed to me stepping in here and if everyone is down I'll start brainstorming as to what I am willing to do and let y'all know what I need from you.

First year we run a little series, try to get some roads closed, and sponsor backing for the series as a whole and not individual races. It saves a lot of legwork for those hosting races. For the most part it'll still be in the style of non legit but it's a start. We keep a points total and have a big blowout for the final race of the year. Hopefully that can be on a closed road with all the legit permissions etc.

If we could pull off one season successfully then we start thinking bigger and let it grow as it may or die as it does. I don't think anyone is looking to make some giant investment here but a little organization sure beats races lumped on top of each other and 2 groups picking the same weekends.
Yah, I totally agree with Dean. It could even be quite run similarly to how things are right now (see which weekends we can get the most people together, or which weekends most people are free,) and just keep stats, and such. There doesn't have to be a schedule. Start a season where everything is completely based of off sponsorship so people aren't paying a fee for the entire season and can only make a few events. Events that qualify to be a part of the season could be assigned point values according to different things (difficulty, type, length of race etc.) All the strings could be tied as loosely as they are now to provide the least possible disappointment and stress.

I do like the idea tho, and I would definitely be down to hold some events in Pa. (Home is in Pittsburgh, and I have an apartment [where I stay most of the time] in State College.)
