Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
I'd drive down to North Carolina to race. If people wanted to get to me and then carpool with me I'd be down with that. Rayzor you can take may I'll go with late June then instead. Justin's race at Mountain Lake should be the beginning of June (the weekend of the 5th I think).
I feel that more than one event a month will be a complete drain on everyones bank accounts. I already don't know how I will get to all these AND go to races off this coast....I need to find a good job for the summer and save all the money I make at my job here at school which isn't much and I want to buy microphones too....too little money and time.
Also don't forget that each event MUST, I repeat, MUST have freeriding following it. Wheels must be destroyed or it is not a good weekend.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
i may be dreaming, but it is possible for there to be enough quality events on the east coast that you wouldnt have to travel to too many off-the-east events. carpooling is also helpful.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
we definitely need to have this communication open so that we do not overlap anything.
i am sure that i will be spearheading the event in hbg-u guys can pm me -may sound crazy but a conference call may be in order between all the organizers, to work out formats and dates. maybe each group runs it as they wish just to mix it up.
again
i would like to have a slower race and an upper level mid range race
probably more drag style
perhaps others will do gs/slide and more technical
just throwing this out there but i'm thinkin a weekend session that people just get "challenged" by others to race.
just a thought

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
STOKED! I have some pretty good ideas for overall "series" formats so when I have some time tomorrow I'll type them all out. I think it would be cool if each race had something unique so the overall winner would be the one who can ride the best on all types of hills (drafting, cornering, crazy straights, ect.) I'm going to check out a supposedly 2-mile long hill with several hairpins soon. If its a go I'm down to organize one here. If not then I can do a little race, but nothing too fast because all of the fast-ish hills around here are residential neighborhoods.
Also I'm down to be one of the people keeping track of the points in the series.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
it would be wise to have a few people keeping track of the scores in case one messes up

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
Keep your eyes open for Street-Missile races in 2009 aswell, try not to overlap with Ontario/Quebec races as some of us wnat to attend your events and some of y'all wanna attend our events.
I'll be putting on an outlaws in the depths of Mount-Royal.
and an east coast Slopestyle Nontest in the spring.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
We need more nontests. I need to go to Canada as well...
Also we need to determine a points system for the series. I'll be a score keeper. That's an easy job. We should do registrations before hand too to get estimates on number of people and make it easier for logistics race day. You could still just show unannounced and it wouldn't be a problem but online confrimation only helps.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
if by nontest u mean just riding
i'll host one in nov
i realize some will not be able to come to the whole series
so i am assuming we will each have a contest with prizes
then we will have an ending event where the overall winners get recognized
ok
so i am gonna commit to a 25mph beginners race
sat eve
sat morn prelims
sun race
this will be a 40mph drag style race
best to do prelims and final on 2 days/ 2 spots
cut down on the bust factor
this will be in may with a rain date
is everyone cool with that?
open to exact dates, format and any other input
and yes i agree, we mostly will need people to sign up early
thanx to everyone for the excitement

I've just recently picked up a Demonseed and starting to DH, but if the race or free ride isn't over my head, I'd love to be there. I go to school in Raleigh, but I live west, in Hickory. I've seen a couple video of Little Switzerland, and it looked awesome. I was actually planning to go up there some time in December for fun.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
AJ- slopestyle nontest would be fcking awesome. I'm thinking of hosting something similar in white plains.
ray- I doubt I could do a two day deal... its much easier to keep everything on one day, racing should only be like 2 hours of the day anyways. And imo.... a straight run is just boring (except if its really fast- like 50 + because thats when drafts become really noticeable) , even when racing, a race can be slow but turns are what makes racing fun.The sultans of speed outlaw is only like 35 tops but going through that 90 degree turn 4 wide is so much fun. So like even if most of the race is straight, at least one corner should be included imo.
Oh and slopestyle nontest is this type of deal- steep as #### roads but not racing, just getting down as stylishly as possible- big standup slides, switch drifts, etc.: http://vimeo.com/1703337

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
yeah, i got just the road!
Pat you gotta come back on spring break!
point system by Fast Freddy...if you come in 1st you get one point if you come in 2nd you get 2.
The series point count is like golf, the one with the smallest point count wins.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
i think for the series points we should take into account the # of riders in each race somehow. if only 4 guys show up for one, the guy in last would have 4 points which seems unfair to the person who got 4th in a race of 40 guys. also if you only go to one race, and get first, you have one point at the end of the series. instead if someone gets 1st in a race of 40 people, they should get 40 points, if someone gets first in a race of 4 people, they get 4 points. highest total points at the end of the series wins. also, chances are most riders wont be able to make all of the races, so if you still do well in the races you do attend, you can still do well overall.
er something like that.

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
Also take in consideration if a race will have heats of 2 or 3, for small road races.
and wide roads with heats of 4 or more racers. some racers will end up with really big point counts at the end of big road races.
How does marcus do this, man, i really hate point-chasing to be honest....

Re: 2009 East Coast Outlaw Downhill Series
You could divide place by number of people and do smallest amount of points that way. So... winning first in a race of 40 would be 1/40th of a point, and winning 1st in a race of 4 would give you a 1/4 point.
Winning 40th out of 40 people gives a whole point, so unless I'm not taking something into account, that would work. You could also multiply all the points by 100 or something to make it a little easier and make the numbers a little nicer so we're not dealing with decimals as much.
