Barcelona
Any Longboarders in Barca????
I am thinking in going to Spain (Barcelona) sometime this april, very likely from the 1 til 10th, i already have a place to stay with a friend i use to study with, however i will be interested in meeting some locals and having some good skate with people around.
I know that there is heaps of street skaters there, but what about the hills? Are there good hills around the area? I would be good to know, then i will bring the racing gear along.
Hope its still time enough to catch up some good people!
Regards to all

Re: Barcelona
Dude,
get prepared for the time of your life. My wife was there teaching for a couple of years, and you will need a roll of toilet paper when you get there when you see the genius that designed that skateboarding city. I have friends there, so if you need a contact to show you around, let me know. I will end up living there someday. The skaters are so talented, and they are open to new ideas.

Re: Barcelona
the entire city is built on fcuking mountains, its amazing, I went there this summer and wished that I had brought a board. the road that went down from my hotel looked like the perfect slide hill, new pavement and no traffic

Re: Barcelona
Everyone is so down to earth, they drink, and sleep for lunch at work. They have ridiculous hills. The center of the city is paved in tiles made for speed.

Re: Barcelona
Hills. Yes. Hills.
There's a phenomenal windy back road (and probably many more) going up to Parc Guell that will blow your mind. The city's basically in between 3-4 good-sized hills. I'm not sure, but there must be some good long runs there.
All the roads I can think of would be pretty technical -- I wasn't into DH back then so this is from memory of biking up/down the stuff.

Re: Barcelona
I'll be working in NW Spain from July1st-August1st, then traveling with my board till Aug. 14th. No set plans yet, just looking to wing it and backpack and skate and meet people. Any other silverfishers in the area around then?

Yes Barcelona is a city of hills and quite skateboard friendly. You'll find a small but very active longboarding crew there, really friendly and open.
Check the Barcelona longboarding locals forum at Longboard_Mediterranea - Inicio . You may need some spanish / catalan, though. Spanish riders also hang out at 40sk8 LongSchool. Zonagravedad. El Portal de los Deportes de Inercia. more specific for downhill, luge, etc.

Re: Barcelona
If anyone's coming to Barcelona between now and August, PM me. I'll be studying and working here till then, so hit me up for a cruise and DH and pool riding. Really, there's a little bit of everything, just hit me up.

Anyone still on The Fish who will be in Barcelona 11/22-11/29? My wife asked me what I plan on doing while there. Guess what I said, one guess. Hopefully that comes true in some way or another

Re: Barcelona
as many people have already told you, check this out Longboard Mediterranea :: Conectarse and post something. you'll get an asnwer for sure.
if you don't get an answer, which won't happen, just go to Numancia Street (Calle Numancia) any friday saturday or sunday afternoon and you'll most probably find someone to longboard with.
Jordi from FORTrate can help you out, too!
Greetings from Mallorca!
