wow...thats REALLY lame man...but look at what you're buying, a rip-off of a already unsafe helmet. glad to hear you're alright.
and yes, the predator six would pass IGSA "tech" inspection. as previously stated, all they do is require a ful-face and tug on the strap to make sure it stays on...IGSA does'nt care about the safety of the helmets racers are wearing, they just want to make it appear so.I've seen people bring DENTED helmets to IGSA tech inspection, they just pulled on the chin-strap and call it good...i was blown away....but this is a discussion for another thread.
i've seen some of the UNSAFE helmets at some IGSA events...to the point that i would'nt even call them helmets.just head fairings..most of those were custom aero-lids, and they did'nt have ANY hard foam whatever and would'nt do ANYTHING in a fall.
last year in europe, the Risch helmets were making their debut on the circuit. if you are'nt familiar with the Risch helmets, google them. anyway, they "passed" tech inspection...at the rock 'n' roll world cup 2 riders who had just purchased the helmets, Erik Lundberg and Nick Brenton both crashed into the haybales in the helmets..both of them hit the bales head first, and in both cases, the helmets FLEW off their heads! later on i inspected the helmets and found that even if the chinstrap is on tightly and buckled, you can still take the helmet off...both riders were very, very lucky to be unharmed...but what blew me away was IGSA, ie, Marcus Rietima did'nt do anything about it...i would have assumed that they would have banned the helmets until they fixed the problem....
anyways, if you want to get a predator six, email me....i'll be placing another order after i get back from paskapoo....if you are gonna be at Paskapoo, i'll have some for sale there, as well as 1 helmet that will be given away as a prize.

to go for a skate is to go for a drift, to explore the streets looking for hidden places, opportunities for creative misappropriation; it is to recombine the artifacts of production and reinterpret the city for oneself-ocean howell

Again, I'd never buy a SpeedAir. I wore it because it was all anyone could offer me on such short notice, we were the last heat in the first round so everyone needed their helmets for themselves. I borrowed the helmet from someone who had road rashed themselves up hardcore the day before and wasn't competing. I had always told him the helmet was unsafe and that he should get a new one, but the irony came full force when I wore it, crashed in it, and it flew off my head...
I believe Billy of Portland has one of the Risch helmets, I tried it on at the Rock the Butte race about a month and a half ago and it was incredibly comfortable and I didn't see a way for it to come off of your head while strapped on. Maybe it's a different aero lid company, or maybe they fixed the issue. Either way, it's not important because I'll never spend more than $200 for a helmet that I'm going to throw away after one crash, I just don't have that kind of money.
I'll wait and see what happens with the Predator and see if any changes are made before I buy another helmet. I'm comfortable in a Bell Drop still. I am curious as to how my crash would've been had I been wearing my leathers and helmet, the helmet probably would've stayed on and my leathers have more padding, but I don't think any amount of padding would've kept my femur from snapping in half...

Then I don't know. I started skate downhill and met Fredrik in 2006 and then he had a aerohelmet for speedski.

Re: Downhill Helmet
aki's old beat engel is another good example of a "non-helmet" i looked inside it and was stunned...it was just the cheap foam that you use for camping pads...totally unsafe for any kind of head slam..of course, it passed igsa tech inspection.

Re: Downhill Helmet
is the visor very compatible?
-
Re: Downhill Helmet
surprisingly, yes. There were small gaps, but i just used some insulating rubber stuff i got at the hardware store to seal them, and you can't tell that i did when looking at the visor
I feel like it would fit REALLY well with a skyrunner visor
some pictures before sealing it fully-
