There are going to be times that you will run into things (cars, guardrails, etc.), but a DH helmet is going to be designed for the things posted above.
this is why i think the AFX-37DS has a lot potential being that it is DOT certified and doesn't weight as much as ur usual DOT helmet.. it is ECE 22.05 ceritified as well. comes with a movable visor and you can buy different shields for it from the manufacture itself.

The FX37DS is pretty heavy and easily one of the most uncomfortable helmets I've ever owned, the DOT rating is nice but it's not a great helmet for longboarding.

that only depends on where you hit the car, yes hitting a car is bad but I would rather hit a car in the center of the metal plate of the door that right in the center of the front bumper. Cuz they make the crumple zone in the front to withstand a much higher change in acceleration than your body could input but the side of the car has a hell of a lot less metal. my two cents. the hemlet I think has more + than -- , so when is this baby hit'n the streets?

i agree it is heavy but i was saying compared to other DOT helmets(pretty much motorcycle helmets) it is not as heavy. im deciding whether to keep mine or wait for the new version coming out in 2010. anyway heres some pics of my helmets.

From what i've seen in this forum i think we are much more scientific than any researchers, i mean you can't say you've applied physics to real life until you've made a hairpin turn on for blocks of uerethane and a stick going 40mph.

sorry for the lack of updates, been in australia and new zealand the past 3 weeks...

got a email while at newton's of the prototype shell #2. looking slick. still working on getting the visor fit dailed in.

"The recent pictures were of the Six with the back lowered by a half to three quarters of an inch. the only other shape change from the Six is at the top of chin guard and a slight bit around top of the face shield."
to go for a skate is to go for a drift, to explore the streets looking for hidden places, opportunities for creative misappropriation; it is to recombine the artifacts of production and reinterpret the city for oneself-ocean howell

Looks a lot bigger with the lowered rear, but I think the final version will look fine.

as you can see, this is the first fibreglass/bondo prototype of the shell with the mold for a inset visor...very similar shape to charly/skyrunner, with a inset flush visor.

"here's some pics of the prototype. Give me your feedback.

Send them out to any blogs, sites, or friends who might be interested in seeing this project develop.

If they go into production for like 125ish I'd buy one!
