    Default Electric Longboards

I work for slide4less and I worked for Exkate. I have a lot of info to share about electric boards, if anyone's interested.

I am an insider. I'm not trying to fool anybody here. I sell the boards, I make customs, I've worked for the companies that make them for a long while.

I'm a boarder and ride everything from snowboards, to surfboards, to longboards, and been doing it more than 20 years now.

But the fact is I never really new jack about longboarding - I always liked surfing and snowboarding a lot better and I lived in the mountians for a while, then near the beach.

Somehow I got into these electric boards when Louis Finkel, the inventor of the X-24, was making them in Long Beach.

It's been a long while since then, and now I am almost more into making the boards than riding them, but I still love riding them. I have a lot of customs. I work at slide4less and they have a lot of customs. I've worked on virtually every type of these boards that was ever made.

And here's something that I just realized recently that may be of interest.

Exkate came out with the 4.0 about a month and a half ago. I've torn it down, and I've torn down X-24's, every generation of them.

The 4.0 is an almost exact duplicate. Even the motor housing is the same. The only difference is the motor core. Which means that the X-24 goes 22 while the Raptor only does 15, but the fact that they are so close is important for a builder like me.

I suspect Exkate's been making the X-24's with some chinese stuff a while in preparation for this. But, I think the Raptor 4.0 electronics and the X-24 electronics are now exactly the same. And the trucks are the same. And the wheels are the same. $499 compared to $999 retail.

It's still all a little outrageous, and it doesn't bother me when die hard boarders scoff at these things, because the electric boards often deserve it.

But we do keep working on them, and they do get a little better each year. This pricing on the 4.0 amounts to a big price reduction on some major parts for the boards, so its a major step in the right direction.

What's the one that you step on the button with your back foot? And it just has one back wheel? Those are kinda fun.

I say the exkates rule. If I had the money Id buy one in a heart beat. Maybe I say this because I have a chance to ride one often and enjoy it. Trashing stuff that you've only seen on the net is getting pretty popular around here. Maybe you kids need expierence something before you pass judgement on it.

I would personally enjoy the opportunity to ride that new long Exkate electric around a few places I go. Big money, though.

The one with the button in the back is sort of a joke. I was sent multiple from a distributor and i havent been able to ride one out of the parking lot. I dont suggest it!

I love macy's!! and victorias secret is having a two for one sale!!!
crass, we should plan a mall trip!!!

but really, power boards seem like 10 pounds of crap in a one pound bag, a novelty at best.

As for me, my legs still work, so I will stick to pushing.

    Default unfortunatly...

Unfortunatly, those stores only have the bad version of the board, to see what an electric skateboard can really do you should get your hands on an Exkate x-24, 4.0, 3.0 or an eglide, if anyone is in the california bay area, i can bring some of these boards around for anyone to check out if you like. I dont understand why no one really digs these boards. I am still faithful to my push board, but my electric board is awesome. Just my thoughts, get back to me.

I think the cost is the reason: the number of people that can even TRY one is pretty short. Personally, I've been cruising the eBay looking for one that will sell cheap, so I could check it out.

I guess the other option is that we could hope for Concrete Wave or Silverfish to review a few of them...like the mfgrs would ship such a thing. How many of these can they possilby be selling per year?

    Default unfortunatly....

Yeah unfortunatly the cost is a bit up in the high level, but thats life eh?
Also Ebay is not a bad place to look for electric skateboards, just stay away from the 3 wheeled monsters that they claim are skateboards, they are shitty and never work, i was sent a demo, and i didnt ever get it to work, stay away! Also You might look around and see if you cant build your own board for much much cheaper. Thanks for the clarification.

    Default power boards

They look like a lot of fun to me. But sort of in the same way that fat chicks and mopeds are fun. $499? No way!

The exskates are cool until you have the throttle get stuck at full bore. Its happened to me in an underground parking garage twice. Either ride it out at 22 mph or bail. I bailed, and learned that running at 22 mph was very difficult. Either way, they are a lot of fun. Haha. Doing doughnuts haha.

Im telling you man, Pimpin it like Owen Wilson in the movie The Big Bounce. He had his girl stand up front and he was riding along on his x24. I don't know about the movie, but it's good to know that move. LOL
