    Default Up Trucks

Here are some quick pictures of the up trucks. These are the LM. I will get some pictures of them turning tomorrow.
I have really enjoyed riding these trucks. They don't cave as well as Randals when going slow but bet them moving and they come alive.

For me, the most attractive feature of UpTrucks are the turn limiters. I really wouldn't mind if I could get those things for any truck. I like loose trucks and it isn't always possible to have boards with wheel wells.

The turn-limiters don't look like the most complicated things in the world, you could probably knock a set up in about half an hour. Or you could just buy risers. Or make wheel wells.

I also like the turn limiters because these trucks keep you lower to the ground and you don't need risers or have to worry about wheel bite.
I will get some more pictures up tonight of them turning.

But with the added thickness of their baseplate, how much lower are they?

I had them installed on my Comet Voodoo, and I ran out of travel before I would have with my Seismics or Randals.

I am comparing them to randals on a wide board that I would have to have angled or 1/2" risers on. I am planning on mounting them on a board that doesn't get wheel bite and maybe taking off the stops. I have also considered cutting the stops down some.

The baseplate "thickness" varies from truck to truck, based on the "soft, medium, hard" specification. The Hard has a thin-looking baseplate, and the Soft has the thickest...all the 181's have the same axle height.

Before I altered the turn-stops on the LS, I could easily bang them onto the stops at angles less than what I reach on RII 180s or similar trucks. They're pretty "safe". 8)

I took 1/8" off each end, which translates to a decent amount of additional turn, but nothing dramatic. I am concerned that the Soft trucks might not hold up so well to extra twisting (since they have the least material), so I didn't want to take off more.
