RIP CITY SKATE Grand Opening!!!!!!!!!
This is from my friend JP
Due to the overwhelming growth of The Board Room at The Mountain Shop I have decided to move the Skate Shop to its own location at 1510 NE 37th on the corner of 37th and Sandy in the "Budweiser Building." This will be Rip City Skate. The new storefront will feature over 1000 sq ft. of pure skateboarding! Rip City will offer a massive selection of boards from Subsonic, Long Board Larry, Eastside, Rayne, Sayshun, MandM, Arbor, Gravity, and Madrid. RCS's focus will be on the downhill end of skateboarding, but we will carry a selection from all ends of the skateboard world. Exciting new additions to the shop will include precision trucks from Kahalani, Monkey, and Bear, ultralight speed boards from LBL, Sayshun, and Rayne, and we will be working towards building a demo fleet of boards, so that you can ride before you buy! It has been quite process to get the shop to this point and I promise this is only the beginning. I now get to spend 100% of my time improving the skate shop, so you can expect to see even more growth before the summer is up. This could not have been possible without the support of all the kickass riders here in Portland, and I want to thank you all for that. It is important that you all have input in the growth of Rip City Skate, so if there is anything you can't find at the shop that you feel is worth buying let me know, and I will do everything I can to bring it into the shop.
For those in need of skate gear now, and have been turned away from The Mountain Shop this past week, please stay calm. Rip City will be opening its doors on Friday May 1st. For those needing gear sooner than that give me a call on my cell: 503.545.5833 and we can work something out. For everyone else:
Friday May 8th will be the grand opening of Rip City Skate!!
Starting at 7pm Rip City will have live music while running videos compiled by Billy and Casey.
Free food a and beverage will be available.
To culminate the evening at 8pm we will run a screening of Colabo's new video "The Fellowship of The Bearing."
Bring you friends, enemies, girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad, brother, sister, dog, and anyone who says you are crazy for bombing hills to the grand opening of

The shop is Rip City Skate as the owner is aware of Rip City Skates.(The name choice is due to them being in Portland.)

Re: RIP CITY SKATE Grand Opening!!!!!!!!!
right down the street from Daddies. haha... dudes used to rip on Daddies for carrying longboards. So many people did, and now the tables turned, longboarding blew up, and rip city is trying to cop on their steez. Also, total name rip off, thus the bad blood between the OG rip city and the Portland Knockoff. Whatever, if they are just following trends trying to keep up instead of creating an actual customer base and sticking true to their product, like daddies has for 14-15 years then we shouldnt see them around too long anyways.

Dude what is you're problem with Rip City?
I dislike daddies for a few reasons. Mainly because I like to be able to go to a shop and have it actually be open. Daddies is barely ever open and whenever i do go in there it seems like they are just trying to sell me stuff and then have me leave. Another reason is because of the stupid crap they pulled when Rip city was just starting out. Rip city is creating an actual customer base, its just a local customer base instead of all online. I used to love daddies as a shop and I only went there, until they decided to abandon the local scene and concentrate on only making money.

Re: RIP CITY SKATE Grand Opening!!!!!!!!!
FWIW- I stopped into Rip City on the way to the Maryhill Fall Freeride and was blown away by their awesome selection and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Any scene would be psyched to have a local shop like that, IMo.
Jati Boards
Jiro- 50* Paris 195- S9 RF 70mm
Ninjati- Cindrich Gen4 180 mm hangers-45* plates- BigZ
Ronin - 50* Randals - Fireball Incendos

I grew up here in portland, ive always gotten my gear from daddies but I have definitely checked out a few other places. I dont hate rip city... i just know what actually went down when they were opening and I know the people who are going around portland trying to tell people otherwise, and they are jokes. I think the reason people think daddies doesnt care is cause they are a little older and dont care about the drama that young skaters like to bring up and dont care about rivalries between shops. And yes, with their online success they dont have to worry about the rivalry stuff cause they arent struggling to survive. Its rad that rip city gets business... they should, portland deserves the best with the rad scene we got here... but we should stick together rather than try to spread BS lies about another shop just cause some people dont know how to act their age.
Someone has to stick up for daddies on here... im game for doing so. They have helped me a ton, and my kids, they got my support and thanks!

I just don't understand how you stick up for Daddies when they pull crap like blocking rip city and other shops in portland from carrying certain brands of skate gear. Obviously they are worried about the other local shops or they wouldnt be doing this. Another thing that I cant stand is that if you type in randaltrucks.com into your browser, it will take you straight to daddies website. This is called domain squatting and is illegal. I also think it's pretty funny that daddies moved from their old storefront and gained so much more room in the store itself, but then they don't even use it. Theyre only open four days a week and at hours when most people are busy. Sure daddies is a nice shop, I simply disagree with there practices.
Also you might want to look into this thread, as most of this has already been covered in the past. Daddies Board Shop... are you kidding?
Please don't get Rip City's thread locked like that one did!
