    Hi,

I'm Rob, I used to skate from 85~90' and then on and off again. Never any good but I still keep an eye out for ditches and skatable locations.

Currently I have a newer Element board, which I bought when I rode a local skatepark with my friend. Also a older Blacklabel pool style board, and just recently ordered my first longboard.

Really excited to see the longboards and how they actually have different shapes unlike modern skateboards. Also glad to see wheels with lower duro than 99.

    Rob

    Hi Guys,
Already introduced myself in the 40+ thread, so I'll just copy & paste.

    Hi Guys,
Made the mistake of taking a younger co-employees longboard for a spin. Now have a Gravity Logan 30" deck(not really a longboard, but have my eyes on the Logan 36" cruiser), 139mm Independent trucks and Gravity 76mm wheels arriving from UPS in the next couple of days.
    My bio:
44 y/o living in Bellevue, WA.
Happily single, homeowner, 2 cats, 4 motorcycles and a skateboard.....life is good!
When I turned 14, got myself a paper route and spent the first three months putting together my first piece of transportation. Logan Earthski Dura lite/Dura wedge, acs lite II trucks and Kryptonics 70mm reds.
Graduated high school(barely), got a job in a grocery store and now 26 years later, I'm trying to relive my youth!
I figured if middle aged people can ski.....then why can't I skateboard?
Figgered it can't be any more dangerous than roadracing motorcycles or street and off-road riding.

Will post some photos of the new board and stains on the asphalt from my first spill.

    Cheers!
    Bryce

Forgot to put in that I had one of those old "Banana Boards" from the early 70's. Plastic deck with polyurethane wheels(loose bearings) Don't know how many times I went down from a rock or pinecone.

Iff'n you see a old(middle-aged) bald headed dude laying in the gutter dead from a skateboard accident, go ahead and take my board.........I won't be needing it anymore!

How goes it everyone? I'm new here. I have been an avid skateboarder for almost twelve years now. I have always loved skating, and when I say loved, I mean really loved. I fell in love with it the instant I stepped on my first board. I picked it up pretty quickly, and got interested in trick skating when I was younger. I've been doing that all this time, but recently have let it go by the wayside. I think I'm at that point where I still want to take risks, but more calculated ones, and tricking just doesn't provide that. Apart from that, I'd like to give my knees a break after all those years.

That being said, I got my first cruiser about 3 years ago to get around during college. It's nothing special, a Flip cruiser deck, can't even find a picture of it on the net, with some Sector 9 61mm 78a wheels with some Swiss Bones, Abec 11 I believe, and some wide Independent trucks. I don't know too much about the equipment, so forgive me if I'm not being specific enough, or if that set up just sucks, but I'm actually having a great time with it, and it rides real smooth.

I have always really enjoyed just riding because it gives me a sense of freedom and enjoyment. I'd like to however learn some of the slides like the coleman and the bert. I think I'm capable of mastering those with some practice. Although bombing hills does interest me somewhat, I think I'm more into the carving and the slides and that. Does anyone have any other slides or maneuvers I might be interested in?

I'd like to maybe also look into an actual longboard. The drop through boards really interest me because of their lower center of gravity, but then again I don't know anything. Some advice on that would be greatly appreciated as well.

Finally, just from clicking on this forum "What's wedging and how do I do it?" That question actually intrigues me now so if I could get filled in on that.

Thanks, and I'll be getting to doing my research now.
