Re: The Official "Hi, I'm New!" Thread
Yo. The name's Vlad and I hail from Brisbane, Australia. While I've already effectively made an intro post, here's the long and short of it: I've been longboarding just shy of 3 weeks, mostly in the form of two monster 5 hour + cruises. My ride is an older version of the 46 inch Arbor Cross Step. It has Randal 180s with 70 mm, 78a ABEC 11s. I don't plan on modifying it anytime soon. This is primarily because I am enjoying the standard setup, and I'd rather not have to disassemble anything or change how tight my bushings/trucks are. EDIT: I am essentially useless at coming to grips with how to attach/dettach different parts of my board, so I'd rather not try and end up destroying it!
I'm just as happy to cruise as I am to bomb a light hill. My safety equipment/sliding gloves should be set in about a week or two, and I've been approaching the learning process with a devil may care attitude. So far, I am having a lot of success with carving, pumping and footbreaking. I don't really go out and try to learn anything in particular, I just cruise and start trying to apply things I've read about or seen videos of. Who knows, I may randomly start trying to cross step or manual the next time I'm on my board. I don't really live by any particular guidelines, I just want to have fun.
I have a lot of confidence, which may one day kill me. As for the username: I used it to guilt trip myself into losing around 17kg in a month, a few years back, which I have generally kept off and managed to keep leading a healthy lifestyle.
Peace!

Hi, I'm Eric.
Just moved to Butte, MT at Montana Tech to be a mining/geological engineer. Lots of hills around here. Just started long-boarding and looking for a nice $200 +/- board that can commute around campus and survive the hills around here.

Hey, I'm Andreas. I'm 16 and I live in Sweden. I don't have my own board yet, but last year, before the snow fell, a friend of mine let me try his longboard and I was hooked, so as soon as the weather allows, I'll be getting my own. I joined Silverfish because this seems like a good place to get to know things about longboarding and the people here seem really laid back. Whenever I get time off school, I enjoy playing drums and hanging out with friends.
Cheers

Check out the Original Torpedo. It's 40 inches. Has a little kick tail and a slightly notched nose. The base model starts at 170 though. So might be a bit out of your range. You might be able to find one used for cheap though.

Hey there! Welcome! I have one of those too.
The sunset is a great board it has a super unique feel to it, I use mine mostly to cruise short distances on or when I'm riding with someone who doesn't know what they're doing and I want a comfortable board that's still fun and all turny. The W concave took some getting used to. Once I got the feel for it I'm enjoying it especially in the toe side corners. I don't regret buying it for a second, It's awesome deck, the graphic is sweet too I'm loving the look.

Re: The Official "Hi, I'm New!" Thread
Hi, new to the board. Haven't rode in 30 years. Saw an ad for a board, did some research and got an Original Malakai with 150mm trucks. After riding it I was hooked again but decided I needed wider trucks. Why buy just trucks when you can get a complete, so I ordered an apex 34 with s8 trucks with the intention of switching trucks. Hope to add to the board.

Thanks, See you have an Apex. 34 or 37. Where did you set your wheelbase?

It's the 37. And the wheelbase is set on the shorter of the two. S8 trucks with the black springs. I haven't gotten to ride it much cause it's been cold and snowy, but from the little I have ridden it, it was squirrelly! Thinking about getting the red spring, but like I said, I've yet to really get some good ride time in on it and I'm pretty new to boarding in general so I may just give it some time and hope I get used to it.
