Re: The Official "Hi, I'm New!" Thread
Heeey guys, I'm Alicia and I'm from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I've been skating since around October, and I can't get myself off my board. Whether it's ditches, cruising campus, cruising around some neighborhood or bombing a hill, I'm in love with it.
Like I said, I've only been skating since October, but I've been working on my tuck and my slides and trying to show up the boys. I skate with the Burque Bombers (jheidenfeld, TM_Cruzer, BoardDuDe630) and we love shredding it up.
Boards wise, I've got a slightly chopped Earthwing Mystery Model (just chopped to make room for bigger wheels) and a Landyachtz Drop Hammer. Wheel wise I have some lovely new 80a In Heat Otangs, 78a Abec 11 70's Flashbacks, 80a 83mm Abec 11 Fly Wheels, and some worn down drifters to practice my slides. Heeeeck yes.
But I'm always down to skate/ get tips to improve my ride/ make friends, so just shoot me a message! Happy skating guys!

haha, yeah, I live about a 12 hour drive north of Vancouver, like 30 k away from the Alberta border. therefore, lots of hicks, not much hills, and barely a handful of longboarders.

Hey thanks for the geography lesson. Sounds like some parts of Texas. The long drives and not many hills and no longboarders. Here hicks are called 'rednecks'.

Re: The Official "Hi, I'm New!" Thread
Heyy guys! I'm Colleen and I live in Hanover, NH, right near the NH/VT border.
I've been boarding for a little while, but it hasn't been until recently that I've gotten really into it. Last week, my high school had our March Intensive week (where we take a break from regular classes and take something completely new). I signed up for Longboard Collective. Wayne Gallipoli of Surf-Rodz and Andrew from GreenStreet Longboards came up to help us build our own hardwood longboards. It might have been one of the best weeks of my life. I came out of the week with a 55" cherry board I made myself, AND a 60" Freeride from Surf-Rodz that Wayne generously gifted as a prize for a helmet decorating contest. Besides those two, I've had a short 34" Gravity board for about a year or so.
Up to this point I've just been bombing down the hills in Vermont, but I'm trying to get cross-stepping and stuff down. It's a little harder than I thought it would be, but I'm getting it slowly haha.
I'm really into the graphics part of longboarding too though. I've been painting for a loooong time, and I first tried it out on my longboard last week. I painted a hula girl on the bottom, and even though it didn't turn out quite like I had it in my head (I was a little rushed to finish it by Friday), I can't wait to try out some more ideas on other boards.

Mine is a 46" and I like it a ton. I don't think you will be disapointed at all. I would recomend painting it though, or the board will look dirty real fast. My buddies all have a few boards and just started riding Kracked Skulls with me. Three of us have Scimitars and one has the M1.

Re: The Official "Hi, I'm New!" Thread
Yep, new here. I'm an old fat guy that forgets my age and injury status on a regular basis. I've been skating off and on for about...30 years. about five years ago, a buddy of mine who used to be a professional snowboarder, and I went down to the new local skatepark, here in richland wa. we didn't have a park when we grew up....so....we went and got our boards and hopped in. we hit early morning sessions, weather permitting, before the kids show up...mostly so we aren't in their way. LOL. I immediately dug out my clapped out longboard and seeing that it was total junk....went and bought a new one from Rebel Skates in Portland, ore. It's the Rebel Gun, freakin awesome board and still my favorite. I roll it in the park a bit and take it on cruises for some much needed excercise. I have a few more boards listed in my profile, but I don't use em as much as the Rebel. For the last couple years I've been drooling over the loaded dervish and tomorrow via ups...MINE will finally be here. I don't believe I've been this excited since I was a kid. I'm looking forward to getting more into some downhill carves and learn me a bit of sliding. I've been trying out some cross stepping and a few other "dancing" moves on my rebel, but not with a lot of luck, hopefully it will be a bit easier on the dervish, it sits a lot lower making it quite a bit more stable. I actually found this site via research on the dervish and am pleasantly suprised how much the longboarding scene has grown since I was a kid...man, in the 80's it was all vert. I'm glad to be here and look forward to meeting new folk.

Re: The Official "Hi, I'm New!" Thread
Hi guys. I've known about this place and held an account for about a year, but i'm finally just saying hi.
I'm a student in San Jose and have been riding for.....about 17 months, tho not aggressively.
My first board is a Gravity 35" diamond tail. It's a great board, don't get me wrong, but i didn't like it much. It didn't have the concave i wanted.
So, about 8 months ago, i got myself the, yours truly, FSM, with random sticker design.
And i'm lovin' it.

Re: The Official "Hi, I'm New!" Thread
Hey, Im new here! Im from Staten Island, NY and started skating a couple years ago. My first boar was an 80s style fishtail toy store board. Eventually, I got another board, which turned out to be even lamer, and now, I purchased my most prized possesion: a Sector 9 Rasta N8V. My setup has 70s flashbacks, element thriftwood bearings, thunder trucks, and lucky hardware. I hope to longboard more as the weather here gets warmer!
