    Default Skating with a Kite

Has anybody tried longboarding with a trainer kite? I have never used any sort of kite before, but I've recently wondered if that would work. It's flat and windy here in SoFla.

All of those videos looked pretty lame. I watched this video [on mute] and 3m is still just a trainer... it looked like it could pull you pretty fast..

The kitewings seem to work very well for land, water and snow.
I use one for snowboarding and with my 60" longboards....bindings are a plus also.

I haven't shot any video yet but you can check out kitewing and the Surf-Rodz(IA) section.

Boy did those look fun until I saw the price! $1400 for something decent. How much did you spend on your's and does it really work too well with skate?

No need to to get air- we use them on a hill. make turns down the hill with the kite following but not pulling "parked" them let it rip you back up the hill. Flats are super fun. Allows you to carve as long as you have pavement. The 3.5m ozone Imp is perfect. Good training for getting on the water or snow too.

We had the windiest day recorded in some insane amount of years this summer.
I took a jacket and held it up. It rocketed me down the hill and I almost died.

I would recommend it, one of the most fun days of skating that I've had.

btw there's a killer wide open parking lot in Redmond WA, right next to the Redmond Velodrome... I'm planning to take out a big board and a trainer kite next time we get some semi-decent dry weather.

i've done sail + CarveBoard stuff at the UW parking lot, but Redmond is a lot more open, no poles, and really really flat.

Yeah i use a 3m Trainer kite on a mountian board for fields and stuff you can build ramps and stuff to hit def put bindings on you board tho cause when you get air or hit a strong gust youll come off your board... Its tough though, alot different on water.

By the way im selling my trainer if anyone wants it.... PM me
    Its a HQ rush 250

I took out my friends trainer out on a baseball feild earlier in the summer, and hot danm. It was pretty gusty and I can't even tell you how many times i ended up skipping out of control.
It seems like it'd be reealll sketchy unless you either had a steady wind day... or actually knew how to kiteboard. But I agree... get bindings.

maybe if you put skyhooks on your board and go off a ramp with a kite you can fly away...

Even though it's his first video, he has been doing it for some time. This dude also skates 18' vert ramps.

If you want to board with him, good luck. He pretty much rides solo... I'm sure I could talk to him for ya.

You need a 5m aerofoil, harness for the kite to steer and buckle the kite, landboard with foot straps, not sky hooks, carbon fiber trucks so they don't bend when you land from 20 feet drop.

I have a Kitewing and a couple small foil trainer kites and the trainer foils are much better for skateboards. The Kitewing is the sh!t with a Dirtsurfer up and down the beach!!!
Kiteboarding on the water is more fun than everything else I do......just..simply better.
