    Default Sliding

I've been longboarding for over 4 years now, and as I want to do the more serious stuff, I realize that I need to learn how to do a decent slide. I know how snowboard pretty well, so I'm comfortable getting slideways. But I have two dilemmas

The first one is the wheels: I have some 65mm Sector Nines and 70mm Earthwing Superballs. The problem is both are 78a formula wheels, and I think I need something harder to do a slide.

The second is: If I am a regular rider, which hand is easier to set down on the pavement to do a frontside (heelside) slide.

    Thanks

left hand and basically go into a drop knee position and throw your right hand in the AYER. but personally, i think toe side was easier to learn. just put both hands down and push out your back leg... im still a noob at sliding myself so you can take my advice or not

You may be, but if you've already tried and had any success, I'd welcome your input if I was asking. People who've been doing something for a long time and/or mastered it, can forget the little thing(s) that helped them get the first taste.

( and I have many of the same q's asked in here all the time, I just wait and let others ask for me. )

I've been trying to slide out my 78a pink powerballs. Having a hard time, but I'm a complete noob so I'm not sure if it's me or the wheels.

    Hahahaha, nice pun!

I find strikers are good wheels to learn slides on at first.

I don't need to do a 180, I just need to get a little sideways to stop. I have a house on Martha's Vineyard, and the tourists during the summer pose a threat. Hahah

slide gloves are key. I'm assuming since you asked which hand to put down you have a pair already, so that's awesome.

those 78a's aren't impossible to slide, sector 9's are generally pretty slick either way, so don't worry about it.
