Re: what the %#^$ is that?
If you're referring to my post, I ain't trying to do that. Hell I loved the claremont vid but could see the issue. I'm being practical here. I just hope those guys don't get run over.
What those guys did was impressive and they definitely have mad skill and steel ballz.

Re: what the %#^$ is that?
Traffic surfing involves the weaving in and out of car traffic. You've got all kinds of people driving, in various states of mind. Some are tired, angry, happy, etc. A few may even be drunk. Every car has it's blindspots. Look how fast our specimens were going. A careless driver could make a turn without looking. Some dumbass could run a red light.
While Claremont's no joke, at least our MIB (Men In Blue) weren't in thick traffic. Their lives were not as much at the mercy of cars. They still had to watch out for cars but for the most part, they had to skillfully maneuver fixed curves. I wanna stress, the claremont vid did take mad talent. They had many blind turns to negotiate and fast drivers.
In summary, traffic surfing puts you acutely every second at the mercy of other's driving skills.

They are going slow enough to push, yet they are still traveling faster than the cars, most of which are stopped or barely rolling. "Lives at the mercy of cars" 15 mph impact is not life threatening unless you lead with your unprotected head
Not nearly as insane as bombing claremont at 40+ where the cars are coming uphill at 30+ mph

Aight whatever im not gonna lie, "traffic surfing" is just wreck less and endangering, both to the riders and drivers. It doesn't take a whole lot of talent, Its something pretty much any one with a board can do if they have the balls, its something i do downtown on my way to the parking garages, and its something bicyclers do every day all over. (and they do it in actual traffic, not amongst cars parked in traffic) Aside from that ive been hit by a car going less then 5 miles an hour, and while it is annoying, it is not fatal...
Conversely, bombing Claremont going 50+ takes an extreme amount of skill and precision. If you hit a rock, pothole, or just a speed wobble you get severely injured. I dont even want to imagine what would happen if you hit a car. Nevertheless all of the aforementioned things could result in your death.
Comparing a display of idiocy and a display off skill that took years to develop is just asinine.

Re: what the %#^$ is that?
I properly thought it was a great video. Looked mad crazy fun weaving the traffic like that...plus for the record...I didnt even think it could have been those tail devil things....lol I thought he just had a super overly long kingpin that flexed to the ground as he pumped

Was a sweet video, but I couldn't get past a man in capris, and the idea of someone opening their door to spit, or litter some garbage, and have them smash right into it.

Correct sir. A friend of mine has a tail devil on the center of his Grombiz board and the flex coupled with hard carves will make that bitch spark.

Re: what the %#^$ is that?
If you guys went to the broadway bomb (some of you have), you'd know how much skill, luck, and danger is involved...its INTENSE for sure. As intense as any DH run you could take if you hope to make it into the top 30 spot
Last year i got like 35/250 (bustin timelapse video) and I watched as a few riders went headfirst during red lights into 3 lanes of traffic
Watch 9:05-9:30

I am still having a really hard time with this comparison which sounds so stupid. How is what their doing any different then people who ride their bikes in the roads and turn with cars and such. And how exactly does this take skill, because im faily certain anyone can ride in the street, i do it all over downtown during the weekends. The fact is your fate depends on whether the drivers are looking out for you. Someones gonna have to explain this a little to me before i could ever agree that this takes a small fraction of the skill it requires to bomb a 50 mile an hour downhill curvy road such as Claremont.
As for the danger.... these cars are going less then 10 miles an hour and ive been hit twice now by cars going less then 10 miles an hour. Both times i walked away with minor bruises. So i find it almost impossible to believe that its more dangerous then falling doing downhill. 30 is about the fastest ive taken a spill downhill and it defiantly hurt far more then either of the two times i got hit by a car.
Please can someone explain this? Because all i see are Taxi drivers who are having to make unnecessary stops because these people are impeding traffic... without even looking behind them. Btw, this basically one of the primary reasons the general population doesnt like those of us who skate.
Last year i got like 35/250 (bustin timelapse video) and I watched as a few riders went headfirst during red lights into 3 lanes of traffic
And that is called stupidity bud, not skill...and i just watched that whole video to humor you, and ive just got one question. How the hell are you impressed by that. What they are doing is simply impeding traffic. And from 9:05-9:30, all i saw was someone skate in front of a Tan van and a Taxi cab. Lucky for them both drives unnecessarily braked in the middle of the intersection when they didnt have to and could have simply run those dumbass kids over. Hey man, i could go out right now and ride in the middle of the freeway and hope that drivers would stop for me when they didnt have to, but then again im not ****ing stupid. Would that make me more gnar then them?
