Kozakov - the 2nd Challenge GEAR AUCTION !!

Man, what a race and what a great time. The most challenging road I´ve raced so far, beautiful landscape, the campground right next to the starting line, beautiful and friendly people all around, cheap but very good beer at the rider meetings. The race perfectly organized and timed. After a little rain before the training days even the weather was perfectly sunny without being too hot.
In short: 4 amazing days and priceless memories.

And now the bummer: Right now the few Czech guys who made all this possible are sitting on roughly
EURO 7.000 debt.
Right now THEY are paying for our priceless memories and the fun WE ALL had together.
THAT IS NOT RIGHT!

We shared the experience we should share the cost.
Usually this cost-sharing should be covered by the starting fee.
You inscribe, you pay, you have done your duty and can enjoy the race.

So why again are people asking for money after a contest was held?

1. The organizers don´t ask for more money (they are way to modest and hospitable for that). It was my idea and it took me two days to convince Jan that this is the only way to go and to ensure a race next year.

2. More than one THIRD of the people who inscribed didn´t show up (and didn´t pay) mostly without excuse.
(I´m also proposing that IGSA is sanctioning and outing such behaviour in the future.)

3. No matter if it was bad planning (hey -- 1st intl. contest in eastern europe ever and it was perfect otherwise!) or the irresponsibility of those not showing up -- Kozakov Challenge has to happen again and it can´t be that a handful of nice guys have to pay for everybody else having a good time.

In my understanding this is NOT a CHARITY thing BUT SHARING COST and INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF OUR SPORT.
It´s about being selfish and preserving our hedonistic lifestyle by saving the guys that make it possible.

I wanted to sell my mint RISCH aerohelmet to get a new Icaro and save some money for new leathers. Then I came to think: All this stuff is worth nothing if there are no races to use your cool stuff.
How could I still enjoy the contest and take back the memories when I know that the race orga is under heavy financial pressure while I worry about upgrading my equipment.
I decided to give the helmet to the race to sell and cover some cost.
I could convince other people to do the same. TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

Most of the people at the prizegiving were opening up their wallets and getting out some real bills.
Unluckily some of the racers already had departed. (That is your chance now to help!)

Again, I´m not asking for generosity, I´m asking you to get into yourself and think about what you are going to pay for your personal pleasures next weekend or the next weeks. Think about what some of that money can help the Kozakov guys to get out of debt.

AND I´M SURE: IF WE HELP AND SHOW THAT WE ARE A STRONG COMMUNITY WE CAN HAVE A KOZAKOV CHALLENGE 2010!

First of all I would like to thank everybody for coming to the Kozakov Challenge this year reagardless if they were riders or spectators - without you all the event wouldn't have the vibe it did!!.It was an epic 12 days for me ( prep work on the track, getting tents set up prior to all the riders arriving,haybales,etc.) , great vibes,great people from all around the globe and an event that sent goosebumps up my spine from the stoke that all the riders had during the event.

It is true that we are slightly in the dumps in regards to the financial side of the event, and the theft of ski nets did not help at all ( 5 fences stolen in total...). I personally have great gratitude for all of you that are trying and helping us to make Kozakov Challenge 2010 a reality.

thanks again to everybody who is trying to help save the event and I would like to personally thank alex for all the work and effort he is putting into helping us make the race a reality next year with the donation of his own personal gear ( btw. how is your collarbone?feeling better..??)
