    Default Boarder vs. Cyclers.

So today i was on my way to apply for some work, by board on the bike path. So yea its called a bike path but its more of a non-motorized-vehicle-path. So anyway two cyclists were heading my way, so i stop carving and far to the right. They stay side by side and didn't even attempt to give me any space. I barely missed them cause i was riding right on the edge of the pavement.
I yelled at them telling them to move over when i passed.
Theres a shirt at the local skate shop that says "one more bike of the road. Board>Bike" now i really want it.

So share your experiences with cyclists, wether its the punk-kids-on-bikes that hang out in the parking lots harassing people, or the adults who are assholes.

Lol we have a lot of street cyclers on our campus and they never pose any problems to me. they annoy me most actually when im driving... there would be douche bags in our area who would literally ride in the middle of the street. it pissed me off to no ends when they just stay there and expect me to follow them in my car.

My experience (taken from the CPR thread)-
As for the people, most are cool, however, there is a contingent of elitist bicyclist who always have some sh*t to say. It's been my experience that they prefer drive by snipes to dialogue(verbal or otherwise), as they invariably express themselves well out of physical range and never stop when invited discuss the issue further. Bitches. Best just to laugh in these situations - this seems to upset them more than shouting back, etc., and is probably a better response for the health of our sport.

At my local skate park, just about every day....

I roll up to the park and there will be skaters all over the place, some good and know when/how to stay outta the way, and some bad who don't know ####. There can be 30 skaters spread throughout the whole park, and I'm still able to get my runs in.

7-10 bikers roll up and clog up the whole thing. They take soo much room up, and it's irritating as all hell. They are mostly younger than me... between 16-20 with the occasional old guy. I used to ask them nicely to move out of the way if they were just gonna sit and talk, but now I'm a straight dick to them.

I've also had more than a few extremely close calls with taking a back tire/peg to the face while I'm in the middle of carving and one of them decides to drop in while i'm mid-run.

I'm not trying to say that all bikers are assholes... I used to ride back in high school... I just think the ones in my town, at our local skatepark, are douchebags.

Bikers at the skatepark are terrible. They think they own the bowls and if you get 5-10 of them there good luck finding a spot to drop in. I wish the park would outlaw bikes.

All the parks by me do! Not to say that doesnt stop the occasional guy from comin out and doin his thing but they always get chased out by the little 12 yearolds that call their mummy's and tell their mummys to call the cops. Hell a while back a cop chased a bmx'r through an open field in his squad car! Anyhoo you could probably talk to whoever it is in your town that maintains the skatepark and with a petition or something get bikes outlawed. I'm not trying to be a dick about it because I'm sure there are alot of cool bmx'rs out there but the ones by me take up literally the entire park with only 2 or 3 guys, and they never take a break to let anyone else skate.

Thats a great idea, but considering the park is sponsored/funded by Mat Hoffman, probably not gonna happen. Probably why there are so many bikes also.

Taking the lane is actually often the safer option for cyclists - bike paths are often in car door zones, and it is unsafe for cyclists to ride on the often rough, dirty shoulder when there is no bike lane.

Excluding skateparks, we have a lot in common with cyclists and, for the most part, rarely ever have problems with them. At least in my city, it's pretty good. Bike paths are really muti-use trails, and people understand that. And the cyclists who run critical mass love it when any type of skateboard shows up.

If you run into an asshat on a bike don't blame the bike, blame the asshat.

Exactly! Every sport has it's A Holes who think they are bad ass's because they do that sport. Even us Longboarders...You know the guys in here who think the are sooo much better than everyone elses sport. I found myself laughing at some kid today because he was carring his short board with tiny little wheels because it sucks to ride anywhere but in a skatepark...But I was just driving by, I wasn't prick to his face...lol

Has anyone ever seen the videos of those protests in which BMXers wanted to be able to either share with skateboards or have their own parks?

It's annoying for anyone to take any space up in the park, but hey it's a common resource.

I don't do any BMX myself (I've tried though), but I have lots of respect for flatland riders--I like the stuff they do, and I feel that everyone should be able to use parks. Whether or not they are bad people will just depend on your luck.

They can't change their frame sizes like we cannot change our deck sizes on demand. Everyone takes up space, that's just how it is.

I come from a concrete skatepark that's been pretty ravaged by bike pegs.

People in cars seem to hate cyclists. Unless you have been a cyclist commuter you cant really judge them.
Some people hate them just because of the lycra. hahahaaaa .........weak.

I think the worst ones are the little kids on a linear bike path through a park or something- away from the road.
You try to pass,... they hear you coming, turn their heads around and the little bike follows.
I dont want to clean them up,.... but Ive had some very close calls.
