Well I just ordered my Firefly from longboardskater in order to avoid the wait times from ordering directly off of insect.
The complete was only 50 dollars more, and I figured I'd get it now to avoid the huge backing times for the new models, as well as possible price increases. If mine breaks, which I don't plan on, I'll just have it replaced by a new model.

I thought the mosquito debacle would sink insect. Nice to see Steve's still got his head above water. (For now, at least.) I don't know how he's doing it, but I'm sure he's doing some serious finacial jujitsu. If Insect is still around this time next year, I say we give him a gold medal or something.

I'd be willing to give them another go if I saw a board I'd want. The only problem I had with my Mosquito was the way too stiff medium flex. I could have lived with it if the board weren't cambered.

I'd always wanted to ride a Dragonfly with some Bennetts. Wish it had some kind of wheelwells though. I know I'm not buying one without knowing exactly what the flex should be like.

It's Trevor, rider for Insect. I talked to Steve earlier today, and here's the low-down:

The problem in the last few runs was that the prepreg nano-skins were too hard and the return of energy rate was so high that they were cracking the cores of the wood. They are now going to be doing the impregnation in-house so that they can fine-tune the amount of nanotubes in the epoxy mixture.

Here's the e-mail that I received from Steve last night at 11:30:

"So basically we're switching back to wet layup with a slightly different carbon nano-resin system that let's us not only bond everything at once, but lets us work a hell of lot faster as we can once again cure a blank in 30 minutes. The boards will still have all the advantages of nanotubes without all the ridiculously complicated processing requirements of prepreg. Prepreg is the only answer for certain aerospace/military applications, but I've learned the hard way it's too much strength for skateboards.

We've already begun this process and all replacement boards will be coming with the new layup. Heading down the bridge to help Cameron knock out some more. Once everything's dialed we should be able to press 10 blanks a day with ease.

So it's back to the future and not a moment too soon. Replacement boards will start flowing out later this week."

my friend had the core of his snap after two weeks of pushing around flat ground , it was supposed to be the strongest mosquito you could buy, lots of wood

he's been waiting upwards of a year to get it replaced

Ive read it has something to do with the cores he was using, he was getting shitty material or something

someone else said that the nanotubes were too strong and added too much pressure on the wood causing it to snap
