Insect Longboards "Reborn"?

I was about to go and order a Firefly, and I saw this on the Insect site.

Insect Skateboards - Acceleration Science

Apparently they're beginning to use new materials? Is it worth it to wait for a new one if anyone knows what's going to change?

Also, it looks like Insect it still helping out people with busted boards; great customer service. Props to them for that!

They started using nanotubes and birch on all of their boards around april/may, no idea what theyre doing now... Apparently that wasnt working. Glad I canceled my order after 7 months of waiting...

Well I wouldn't make a thread if I figured it wasn't new thread-worthy. And keep in mind it's not the same exact question.

Seems like big enough news in the longboarding world to make just one more thread.

there would be no need for great cust service if it wasn't for lack of quality control.
is it worth the wait ,well only you can decide.

although,i do love my mosquito i wouldn't wait 6 months again if it was the only board i had or could have.

if it was 2-4 weeks then yeah i would wait if you feel you have to have a insect,but who really knows how long wait times are.

i have been itching to order a drop skeeter

Well I'd get it from Longboard skater, so I'd get it in as much time as any other board since they already have them in stock.

yeah but it makes you wonder how many problems insect had .
new materials,new construction..they only came out with what nano stuff a year or so back.
what is to say those boards in inventory currently don't have issues.
i have not had issues with mine and love the deck, but obviously they must have had a number of problems to post that.

I would be skeptical buying that deck... Steve from insect would probably hook you up if something went wrong, but for a first DH board that you will likely curb atleast once or twice, its not worth spending $200+ on the deck only to have something happen and wait god knows how many months for a replacement from insect.

Well I think I might just order now since when the new material comes out, there will most likely be a huge waiting list for both online stores and individual customers, and I think they will cost more as well.

Also, if it breaks, Steve (I think is his name) will just send me a new one, which is a small reason why I'd get one; great customer service. That helps me look past the apparently not so good QC.


EDIT: Anyways, let's keep this on topic. New material, new designs?

I thought the mosquito debacle would sink insect. Nice to see Steve's still got his head above water. (For now, at least.) I don't know how he's doing it, but I'm sure he's doing some serious finacial jujitsu. If Insect is still around this time next year, I say we give him a gold medal or something.
