The big advantage so to speak is it's a different way of riding. In addition works out your arms

Nobody who has ever really given it an honest shot will say this. I paddled around for a little while post-broadway bomb when the kahuna guys were reppin there, and it gives your arms, chest, and back a HUGE workout. Its also a different way to skate. You lean more to push, and its a more surfy feel compared to straight pushing. I still like kicking for maneuverability, but if I had the money to drop, I would definately get a stick for working out

My Kahuna Big Stick is supposed to show up today. It'll get a workout this weekend. I've already got a specific board set up for this. Looking forward to using your website.
My Quiver?
Too many boards that I don't ride enough...

I'm 5'8" and I got the 5'6" Big Stick. Works great for me and is the most popular size. Best looking version with the blue hawaiian fabric rap, IMO.
Have fun and keep at it.

I would get the 6' and cut it down to 5'9". They won't cut the sticks down for you, so if you have the tools to do this, this would be the way to go. I'm 6' and have the 6' stick (recommendation from Kahuna customer service) and I'm REALLY glad I got a stick that is my height, and you'll get a longer/stronger/smoother pull on your paddling. I've been paddling about 6-10 miles a week and would also recommend that you get an extra set of black rubber "wheels".

Which Big Stick is best for sliding?

Not sure you'd get much sliding done with the grippy pucks, but I've seen a Kahuna video where the rider drags the stick behind him (like breaking) puts all his weight on the stick and does a nice backside standie. I doubt you'd be able to slide far with the grippy pucks, but I have been giving some thoughts to making some pucks out of something more slippy like cutting board for some slide sessions

I'm close in PA and it didn't take long at all. Did you get a tracking number?

Ah really, like how many days? I'm pretty sure mine's gonna come soon, and I might have, but I didn't write it down.

Maybe a week at most, UPS ground is usually anywhere from 6-9 days. Call them and get your tracking number. Great folks and easy to deal with.
