Old bearings
Hello
So I was going to build a cheap ghetto lathe type thing for radiusing wheels and such. In order to follow through with my design though, I need some old bearings. Sorry to mooch but I do not have any and would love it if a few of you could send me some. Thanks and once again sorry for the begging.

Don't you worry your pretty stripped head we're gonna get you back to Tyson and your cozy tiger bed.
And then we're gonna find our bestfriend Doug and then we're gonna give him a bestfriend hug.

Re: Old bearings
Search tool. I saw a thing about this topic surface in the past week. You will find more luck there... I'm on dial up, otherwise I'd find it for ya.
But, I will repeat myself.
Wooden dowel, old drill bit (broken ones work), epoxy and a drill press. epoky the dirll bit in the dowel, which fits the wheel. You may need to wrap duct tape around the dowel. This will attach the wheel to the spinning part. Clamp a nail or something sharp and stationary that will be used to cut the wheel, to the drills base plate. Pretty simple from there.

Re: Old bearings

that looks like exactly what you need but if you dont have 10mm bearings flip the cones the other way and dont put bearings in
tighten really tight and you should be good

Interesting... would it be a good idea to put a washer on both sides? Just to even out the pressure on the bearing?

If you care about not trashing the bearing then yeah.

Nah, I didn't care to search in it.
Seems like too much work... I do rain grooves by hammering a dowel wrapped in duct tap into the core. I've used a broken drill bit carefully epoxied in the center of the dowel to spin the wheel. Duct tape helps wedge the wheel on the dowel. If there is wobbling, it's easily adjusted.
Some people just like spending time building rigs and jigs. In all honesty, how often will you be radiusing wheels?

Hmm I will try it later. I am using all of my bearings at the moment so it might be a bit before I get around to it.
