Arm Injury
So last night I was working on switch 180 toeside powerslides on my Nemmy, and I decided to try to rotate my heelside regular 180's faster, so as to lose less speed. I went all out and, of course, I lost the board and fell backwards about 140 degrees into the rotation. I put my hand out to brace myself and felt a pretty bad pain in my forearm. My fingers were also tingly. I decided to just ice it and whatnot to see if it would feel any better.
Morning comes around and it still feels pretty sore and I'm getting ready for school. I then try to put deodorant on to realize I cannot grip anything with my hand without a shooting pain in my forearm. It's strange though, it seems like movement of my thumb causes the most pain. It's sore to the touch. I'm leaving for x-rays in a little while. I'm really hoping it's not something serious. Also, I'm a tad confused as to why my wrist is fine but my mid forearm hurts. /rant

Sounds to me like a hair line fracture of the radius or the ulna.

Re: Arm Injury
Might be a sprain. Or I might have hairline fractured my wrist and thought it was a sprain . I had the same thing, it got to be manageable after a week. Still hurt for like 2 months after. I should gone to see a doctor, and I'm glad this isn't another "what should I do, I'm hurt" thread. Hope your wrist is not broken

I doubt anyone has an MD here (including myself) but I'd definitely have this checked out. Yeah it could be just a sprain but it could also be a fracture depending on the type of pain and volume of such. If you move any of your fingers and put your other hand over your wrist/forearm area you can feel movement so some damage might've been done. It could also be muscular as well... best advice is to see a professional and hope for the best.
Sure alot of "tough guys" despise hospitals but then they complain when bones and muscle tears don't heal correctly lol.

Re: Arm Injury
If there's ever a question, always get xrays.
I'm 3 weeks past a fat slam and still not 100% but just the last couple of days I've started being able to rotate the left hand w/o pain. Still can't force a full extension of the left arm without pain in the elbow but I can curl the palm to shoulder and squeeze with only a little discomfort. Both palms are still a little tender. I did get xrays of elbow, arm and wrists and they said there were no breaks.
Until you get in to see the doctors, rest/ice/elevate... and Ibuprofin.

Re: Arm Injury
Hope it's nothing too serious. Doesn't sound good, though. I had the same issues when I compression fractured my arm.

Re: Arm Injury
I'm 7 weeks into a torn shoulder. I fell foreword and landed in the push-up position. For 3 weeks and I could not do anything. The last 4 weeks I spend 2 hours each night stretching in pain, serious pain, and using my other hands fingers to DEEP TISSUE massage the inside of my shoulder.
There is a lot of scar tissue on the inside which needs to be broken up. Usually around week 8 it's all better. If you do not break up the scar tissue on the inside, then it can heal wrong and your left with a Dead Arm and your friends will stick a pen in your hand.
I did this 2 years ago and it took about 8 weeks then to. Snowboarding crash landed in the push-up position again.
Because I am the Road Warrior, I do not go to the doctor. They are people in different bodies, they do not reside in my body. If I want information on my body, I look inward, not outward.

put a thumb immobilizer on it. had something like this happen once when the dog leash got wrapped around the thumb and the dog took off. thought it was going to pull my thumb off. hurt like a beich for about 6 months but it healed. can't see running to the doc if it ain't all black and blue and swollen. soak it in ice water for while the put the thumb brace on.

Exactly. He wasn't asking if "X" owed him money. He knows who owes what.
I know my shoulder is messed up. I don't need a doctor to allow me to understand my shoulder is messed up. This subjugating of responsibility is the Fall of man. In all reality, it is I and only I, who is responsible for my rehabilitation. I can blame nobody but myself now. Maturity without the scapegoat of blame, is completely absent in Modern Man.

sounds like you've been reading too much ayn rand. just cause you know your shoulder is messed doesn't mean you know the best method for fixing it. someone else (such as an MD, perhaps) might. we're communal, pack animals, you can try to deny your nature but you'll just end up a crazed hermit. to each his own.
