~180lbs too much for 78a bushings?
I got red stock randals that came with randal180s for my legendary and I'm looking to get some bushings with ridiculous carvey and bouncy feel.

Not worth taking the 10 seconds to put your helmet on?

Re: ~180lbs too much for 78a bushings?
I have stock Randal II 180s too and thought the same thing. I weigh about 175lbs and ordered some translucent yellow Randals (89a, I think) and they were way too soft for me, so I threw the red ones back in. I'm hoping they'll break in a bit and soften up a little. It may have just been my personal preference, but the yellows were too soft for my taste.

I ride on 76a holey smokes on my Holey/Randal hybrids. I weigh 215. Its a loose surfey feel. You'll like running on soft bushings. I assume youre talking about Orange khiros?
I would highly recommend holey smokes, although I havent tried them on randals. They do fit though.

i know a few people who use 78a who are around your size (closer to 170 though), im 150 and use them and they are sweet.

Re: ~180lbs too much for 78a bushings?
I should clarify a bit and maybe I could also get some advice. Two birds with one thread
I felt the yellow Randals (Are they 89a?) were "squishy" for my weight and there wasn't any rebound. Also, it didn't actually happen but it looked like there was the potential for wheel bite if they broke in.
Was my problem that I didn't have the kingpin tightened enough?

The website I'm looking at sort of confuses me. There is"down hill, standard, and super carve" bushings. Are the difference in them only the amount of barrels or cones they have?
I'm looking to get bushings that I can do some wicked carving and be able to try and do some fast sharp turns that'll help me do stand up slides and I'll hold onto my randal's when I DH.
I assume Super Carve orange (81a) would be right, or the blue (78a) is what I'm thinking of?

the diffrent bushing packs are the same bushings formula and duro wise but theyr diffrent shapes
downhill= 2 barrels
standard=1 barrel, 1 cone
supercarve= 2 cones
i think for what you want to do with your boards you should get venom standards
they carve really nicely and are still fairly stable

I might be wrong but i think the locknut should be flush with the kingpin
and if your trucks are tight enough and they still feel squishy and lack in rebound its the bushing formula
randall bushings arent that good so im pretty sure its your bushings

Re: ~180lbs too much for 78a bushings?
at 180 pounds your weight will cancel out any feeling of rebound with the 78a bushings.
Got for a yellow/orange barrel venom combo or Blue/Orange Khiro Barrel Combo.

I'm 210+ and like those yellow Randals. I've got a couple of decks with the red Randal bottoms and yellow randal cones top. I don't like squirrely/twitchy setups but wanna be able to slice and dice. Purple sabre barrel with a red randal top has turned out to be a good ride on a couple of decks too.

Re: ~180lbs too much for 78a bushings?
you should get some sabre cone bushings or the cone/barrel combo if you want a bit more stability. If you want carvy, reboundy goodness then sabre is the way to go
i thought a speedring was some sort of special condom at first, but I was wrong lol
