    Question Dancer/cruiser recommendations?

I haven't done that much dancing yet, but I'm looking to get better. I also love to cruise around, especially on long runs. I'm essentially looking for recommendations for an absurdly long dancer/cruiser. There aren't any good longboard shops around me, so I probably won't be able to try out the board before getting it. Right now, I'm thinking about the Longboard Larry OSD (Bamboo or not? I'm about 140 lbs, so I was thinking that the bamboo might be better as far as flexing goes, but I don't really know) or possibly the Loaded Dancer. And I'm planning on asking for this for Christmas, so if I probably won't have to pay for more than half of it if I have to pay at all. In other words, cost isn't a huge issue here. Also, truck and wheel recommendations for the board would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the list, I'll be sure to look around. But I was really looking for your opinion on boards, because I won't be able to try them out myself.

Well, other than the price, the Loaded Dancer has been one of the best dancers i've ridden. The nice flex and the nose and tail curvatures really make it feel great. After that, i'd say the OSD from LBL is pretty awesome too. Both are great, and you can't really go wrong with either.

Edit: And if you go with the Bamboo OSD, the flex should be just fine, 140 won't make it sag.

And with the wheels, i'd go with some O'tangs or some Retros.
And for trucks, some Randal style trucks like Randal, Paris, or Grizzlies will be just fine.

    Thanks for the advice!

    On the subject of trucks:
I already have tried Randal 180's (I have a Never Summer Norad with them and Orangatang In heats), but I haven't tried Paris or Grizzlies. Which of the three do you think would be best for smaller hills and flats with the occasional bigger hill thrown in? Or do you think that they would all be pretty similar?

All of them will be great for bombing smaller hills and cruising flats, out of all of them i've only owned Grizzlies but have ridden the others extensively.
To me Paris were a really great carving truck, they could be loosened to hell, and were just crazy fun. Grizzlies are great for carving, but also pretty stable. (A lot of people don't like the stock bushings though, I personally like them, so I would recommend if you do end up getting Grizzlies to try out the stock bushings before you buy other bushings in haste) And Randal are great for carving and small bombing like the rest of the trucks i've named.

All in all, they're all pretty similar, but with slight variations that don't make them the same truck. The over-view of them (To me in my opinion) is as follows:

    Paris: More carving oriented
Grizzlies: More small to mid-bombing oriented
Randal: A healthy mix between the two.

I have Grizzlies on my Dancer and they work out great.

I have one of these dancers in the works right now, its only a 4ft board but thats still more than plenty to cruise on. I think the flex would be ideal for your weight too, because the core came out a little thinner than I usually make it for my 150lb. PM me if you're interested.

    WHOA WHOA WHOA.
I am so intrigued by this Hamboard Classic.
But again, I'm only about 140 lbs. Could I really turn and control a board that big?
Also, how tight can you get it to turn when you need it to?
And what are the drawbacks to having a board that's that big?

personaly i feel like randals are the median i love my sets... bears feel too restrictive and paris's i love there great carvy trucks...and there fine for downhill too. the reason i like randals better is because of the bushing. but if ur changeing the bushing, or its going to be for a dancer i would reccomend paris's

    Nobody has recommended Roggs?
I haven't rode one, but the name gets thrown out a lot when talking about good dancers.

Apparently it handles like a shorter board, but there is obviously plenty of room to dance on.
