For the last year Brian Petrie, the executive nerd over at Earthwing Skates has been very busy with twin boys, and running that small growing underdog skateboard business in Brooklyn, NYC...things are hectic. Other than changing diapers, designing decks, and filling orders, there is not much time left over for anything else these days. But here is a little insight into the method of the madness that landed the Supermodel.
It's a twin-tip drop-through in 2 flexes for freeride/freestyle downhill, and soft wheel sliding. It is stiff, but with the routered channels, it has a touch of torsional flex to enhance and make sliding more forgiving and predictable without sacrificing the stiff feel of the deck. It allows the rider to control the truck more independently of each other than usual, and also helps distribute load more evenly between all 4 wheels with tighter trucks.
