    Default Different Trucks, Same Board...

sooooo if my username doesnt give it away already, i ride a shlong.

my shlong has old, and slightly bent, and horribly scratched trucks.

(signature boner screw in the background of that picture haha)

also, she's scratched up as all hell. pikachu has no face thanks to pretty much ZERO ground clearance

and here's a shot with some more detail of the overall board.

Now, the yellow board was nothing but a project, a prototype, something to screw with til i got it right. The green/black board is what i'm putting a new set of trucks on. But i've run into a dilemma.
You all know how the T-Rex is, right?

Wide front end, narrow rear end.

The only reason i bring this up is because i was riding a dervish the other day, and i couldnt stand how often my pushing foot got caught up with the rear wheels. SO, what do you think about putting a narrow truck on the rear of the board coupled with a wide axle at the front of the board? Like, standard skateboard truck on the rear (7.75") and a longboard truck up front (9.75"+).

I may be looking at this through a hard-headed point of view, but can anybody offer any insight, opinions, pics, or thoughts? all is appreciated, and feel free to hit me on AIM or twitter (@dashgotoomph)

[and after previewing the post, i realized you have to click the pictures that are embedded twitpic links. i fail]

I can only see the pic of the Trex. And I don't know how you hit your foot on the derv. I'm 6'4" with size 13.5 feet and I have only hit the wheel maybe only once. I think you may just need to ride it a little more.

Concrete Slave, I'm about your same height, but i have a size 12 foot. but i take LONG strides when i push, and i've gotten really accustomed to the way the trucks on my proto-shlong tuck very nicely under the board. :-/

This got me thinking just now, what if you put a conventional truck on the front and forund a way to put a single scooter wheel in back? It would be pretty unique.. I think I'm gonna find a way to make this work....

I was thinking something more like a pair of like zigzags in front and a razor wheel in back so its set-up like the t-rex it might be a really fun ride

Yea but it would probably react weird if you put a wide wheel in back... The razor wheel would allow for full lean on the front truck without it have akward traction in the back

The razor wheel. It has zero contact patch and will have even less once leaned over, no lips and a shitty urethane.

So why not a really narrow rear truck, as already suggested?
The Dervish will support just about any truck and have the clearance for any wheel.

The board is designed around the Randal 180, but if you mostly use it for commuting I don't see why a 150mm hanger up front and a 125mm hanger in the back would do you any harm.
Just have a low degree plate in the back and everything should go swell. The lower the degree the less steering in the back, this will keep all wheels on the ground despite the different truck widths.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

I disagree, having a board where one end lets go way before the other isnt fun at all. My board was like this until I got my set up dialed and I can assure you its sucks monkey nuts.

If both ends were equally slidey, you might have something.

Haha. My bad, it was way too late when I wrote this. Then I retract my statement.

In any case, as you're riding a schlong I think you would still benefit from parts of my suggestion, the geometry change in the back would matter even more due to the huge wedging going on in the back.

You are however discussing the possibility of having a single wheel in the back that just traces the front, which a low geometry truck would, but there would still have to be two wheels.

    Hope you find a solution!
