    Default Intro and Question

    Hello All,

Native Floridian recently moved to Houston here. I left the waves but I still have my skateboards.

I have a couple questions that a few of you maybe able to address. For the last year I have been using a Sector 9 longboard (like THIS guy) for dog pulling. I have two pits, Kaylee and Cole, which I have equipped with special harnesses. They pull me around 3 miles a day. The wheels and bearings on the 9 are toast so I started searching the market for new wheels or possible a new board. I noticed these all terrain boards and since the concrete is so harsh on the dogs paws, this maybe the ticket. I have a few miles of single track that runs along the pulling route. I am thinking about getting THIS to replace the 9, but I have a few concerns. Mainly, how will the pneumatic tires handle speed and banking on concrete. Will they slide way more than the poly wheels and will I end up with serious wobbles at 12-17 mph? I know this is not an AT/MTB/kite boarding forum but I figure some of you may have some insight on both boarding POVs. Any input is appreciated.
Common sense is not so common.

hhhm, so your considering a mountain board, these boards are made for dirt roads and i do not know how well it will do on a concrete type road. i dont think it will slide around alot, and i also think that you wont really have a problem with speed wobbles. If the road you ride on REALLY sucks, i think that this would be a pretty good decision, but if is pretty good, i would probly go with another longboard or just get new/better wheels and bearings

Well one thing i know, mountain boards=VERY HEAVY. Im sure that nosewalker is heavy too, but i have checked out the mountain boards at one of the skate shops in my area and they are massive heavy. If you dogs are gonna be pullin you they will probably have a harder time if you have a mountain board.

Anyone please feel free to correct me if im wrong. I dont know much at all about mountain boards.

ya, you have a point, they seem like they might be pretty heavy, and i dont think the people making them were thinking about them getting pulled by dogs, so this is something you might want to consider

As soon as you get your pits setup and pulling you off road,
you'll need to post a video for sure.
Also, if you have not already, talk to Scotty or Zac at Carve Longboards - CARVE A full service longboard shop (the real deal).
They can possibly help you out with the all-terrain board you seek.

Have you considered booties to protect the dogs feet? Pit bulls are great dogs.
