Red face The cure to speed wobbles

So i have had speed wobbles about 5 times in my life all leading to epic crashes.
Once you have speed wobbles is there anything you can do to ride them out.
And if your going to fall for sure what do you do?

Look for the least painful exit. Jumping off of the board onto grass and running it out or rolling are the two best options imo. Next would be sliding on kneepads if I had em, followed by running it out on the pavement, followed by jumping into water. If none of those options are available, pray, lol.

if you start to get em, just chill out. try putting a little more weight on your front foot. if youre not already doin this, ride with your front foot as close to the front truck as possible. bend ur knees a little. wear safety gear. and ride near the grass until u feel comfortable.

Just lock your ankles and relax, or try to footbreak., or go into a tuck, or pray to Jesus

if i'm ever felling a little wobbly, i'll sort of let my legs and kness go loose and sort of absord some of the motion, it seems like some people have the tendency to stiffen up when encountering the wobbles and this can lead to falling. Also, if i have room i'll just throw some big back and forth carves and then center and restabalize myself, however if i'm going really fast and get a lil scared i'll go down to a drop knee postion and usually throw a big coleman drift and kill my speed, which i'd only advise if others aren't skating around you.

don't try to control them by turning ,thats makes it worst, just relax and keep your weight on the front and get low and ready to skid in case they trow you off, if you stand up you just gonna fall harder, wobbles are always there ,the problem its getting scared when they start, lot of times I have bombed and wobbled on the middle of the run and finish the run wobbling,on some guys were like "dude you were about to eat it! and I am like nope,I am riding lose ,its normal to have wobbles.

Riding really lose trucks on non steep roads will increase your control too.
I drive every day by and she tries to seduce me,I can hear her sayin' "Draw pretty thane lines on my new black dress,go crazy on me, go sidewayz"

When I get wobbles I get low, weight my front foot and relax.

If I know I'm gonna bail (100% sure, not a snowballs chance in hell that I'm getting through this), I try to steer myself towards some grass to bail on, if there's none, I'll get lower and just jump off onto the concrete and slide on my kneepads/gloves (and try to grab my board if I can so it doesn't fly down the hill).

Get low. It'll help with wobbles, and it'll make your bail 10x easier on you (slamming from a standing position = not fun, sliding from a crouched position = not fun either, but less painful).

its different for everybody, some like to lock up their joints to stabilize the board and others go loosie goosie and let their legs take the wobble out of the board..... it comes with practice, and always keeping your mind clear and calm. when i bail i try to roll, rolling gets rid of the friction that rips you to pieces here i did not roll when i wobbled out and slid:

Falling at lookout. A short story....

i do the opposite of what most of you guys are doing lol
i stand up and put weight over back truck with my back foot flat over the truck.

or i will sometimes also just get really low and grab my board.

ooorrrrrrrrr if its right before a turn i just drop into my turning position and boom it out.

you gotta find something that works.

This works because you live in florida.

I go loosey goosey and let my legs take care of things. If it gets too bad BUST A SLIDE, shave off as much speed as you can! besides, once your hand(s) is on the ground you're in a great position to do a hands and toes bail (or hands toes and knees) and keep your body safe. aim for grass, pffft.

Man that is terrible advice. Jumping off your board, either into grass, dirt, or street is just asking for pain. Just because grass wont give you rash like the road does, doesnt mean it cant hurt you. I broke my left elbow two weeks into skating by jumping into grass at about 15mph to avoid going into a major intersection. Had I known how to footbrake, it wouldnt have happened....

My answer to your question is to stop pushing yourself so hard. If youve bailed hard 5 times due to wobbling out...your doing it wrong. Wobbles are always a sure sign of going beyond your comfort zone. Im not saying you need to be boring and only skate what is comfortable, but pushing yourself in small increments at a time is crucial to a long, successful life of skating. Otherwise, your gonna end up breaking a few too many bones.
    Skaters gonna skate.

Carve. That always works for me. Big sweeping carves always gets rid of the wobbles for me and has for twenty plus years. Sometimes all I need is a quick dart to one side to clear them up if they are small.

If you are going fast enuff to wobble you probably are going too fast to run out.

Work on your set up and see if you have any slop in your trucks. If you do you may need to make some adjustments to tighten it up. Change bushings or tighten the kingpin or both. Loose trucks are good but sloppy trucks give you wobbles fast.

Attitude and body posture help a lot with dealing with wobbles. With time as you get better and more used to riding at speed you can deal with wobbles easier.

posture is a good point, if I get wobbly I get really low, all the way down on top of my thigh, I hang my arms down and low (this helps a lot compared to hands-on-back tuck) and think "floaty" and just let the wobs disappear. standing up can amplify wobbles really badly, at this point at really high speeds I don't even stand up to footbrake, I do it right out of tuck. It's just more stable to be low.

reacting suddenly by STANDING UP is pretty much the worst thing you can do with wobbles, I recommend easing yourself up out of your tuck and by the time you're halfway up you'll already be wob free and your problems are solved. Get used to tucking, it's the safest place to be as far as wobbs go.
