Santa Barbara Slide Jam


For some, the Santa Barbara Slide Jam was a trek, for others it was right out the back door, but for all it was an overwhelming joy. Professional riders from companies such as Honey Skateboards, Orangatang Wheels, and Sector 9 Skateboards attended the jam. However, the amateur riders gave the pros a hefty challenge.

The drive up the coastal mountain range of Santa Barbara was a visually stunning one as the scenery went from rolling hills to lush forest. The Jam was held at two different spots on the mountain road. The first was a tight right hand turn followed by a medium steep straight slope. The second location was perfect for the Slide Jam and this was where the participants were judged on their slope style sliding. It was further up the mountain, and the road was in good condition. The road was a quarter mile or more of straight down hill that was just steep enough to maintain a good sliding rhythm with soft wheels.
