    Save Eastbourne Speed Days

Eastbourne Speed Days started in 2007 as collaboration between Eastbourne Borough Council and the UKGSA. It has run as a world cup event since. After the first year the event was such a success that the local council resurfaced the hill at a cost of £35,000 to increase the quality of the event. The South Downs location makes it an amazing spectacle for both riders and spectators. The event has featured a night skate, party, and famous start ramp.

I just emailed Councillor Tutt and also Councillor Susan Morris, who holds the portfolio for sport, recreation and tourism.

Eastbourne Borough Council - Councillor Portfolios - Councillor Portfolios

They both represent the same Party, so MAYBE co-operation will be easier.

Given the significant level of resources that most public sector organizations effectively waste on consultancy reports, expensive strategy documents, pitching for investment, job etc... you would THINK that an event which:
    1. Is relatively cheap to host,
    2. Not too disruptive
    3. Gives an unique selling point AND
    4. Generates a large surplus in terms of tourist spending and media coverage...

    would be a no-brainer?

Maybe not to those with no brain, huh?

A commitie meeting on the 24th of feb ruled Eastbourne speed days out. So there is nothing we can do other than find external backing. The councilers have already signed it off....

Just got word that the event is now off the IGSA lists and has been declared dead in the water. If more stateside companies realised people in Europe ride their products too maybe this wouldn't have happened.

I got my reply from Mr. Tutt telling that it is not completely off the table, but he was asking me if knew a sponsor for the event??? I don't know who the all the sponsors are anyway, and found it an odd reply TBH! If I had a big company I surely wouldn't mind sponsoring, sadly I'm just a student

The only sponsor that pulled oit was Go Fast as they went into liquidation. Being an energy drink company, this is funny.

You got the standard copy and pate reply from Mr tutt we all got. Currently the facebook group is trying to drum up a sponsor from somewhere.

What does the sponsor need to offer in funding to make the event viable?

Apparently £11,000 is needed, not sure what for though, guess stuff costs money!

EDIT: There's certainly room for trimming costs though so if anyone's thinking about it and has close to that amount, hit it!
