I predicted the winner would not have Radikals on his board.

    Coincidence?

I'm like the Nostradamus of Skateboarding.

    Yep

Predicted the Fitboy longboard too. Big deal, I was off by one letter.

Yeah but come on, Gullwings for your longboard?? In a contest where you could pick the most expensive stuff out there? Maybe he won because he had cheap taste

    congrats to that guy!

i was also surprised that he didn't pick stuff that was higher up on the chain.

for instance: my longboard entry was a JimZ flushcut, JimZ hangers, 90mm flys

slalom was a Roe Racing Unlimited, split-fires, and Avalons

Yeah congratulations are in order, the guy won his four dream boards, chosen out of thousands who also entered this contest.

I feel, unfortunately, that he wasted the rediculous opportunity that Concrete Wave presented.

If I had only a little knowledge of skateboarding and longboarding and stumbled upon this contest, I would have been researching each and every company and product on the list, making sure I put together 4 unique setups. Hell, I have a moderate knowledge of skateboarding and longboarding and I did the same thing.

If I stumbled upon a contest to set up your dream, I dont know...guitar rig? Bike? Car? Home theater? Garage? Kitchen? ANYTHING, I would have researched the HELL out of my choices. With the opportunity to own the most advnaced skate/bike/home theater/car/kitchen/backyard equipment in the world, I would make sure I had all the info needed to make a good decision.

Maybe this guy went for sentimental picks? Boards from his first foray into skating in the 70s. That's all fine and dandy, I would have done that too.

Then I would have used my other three choices to make the sickest setups possible.

Congrats to you, Joe. Seriously I mean it. It's awesome to win such a contest out of so many people. And I also think it's awesome that you're skating again after so many years (as many times as I hear this story, I still like hearing it).

It just makes me kinda sad that you didn't use this opportunity to your full advantage.

I wish that it had been me. The 14 year old who has to save up a whole year to buy a deck. Who has no real job and who skates every day.
Not some old fart with a steady source of income who could prolly buy a deck every 2 weeks.

Throw in DT&Z-Boys and you're pretty much covered.

    Haha, yeeeaah pretty much, Mark.

Maybe they also chose him over others cause he DIDNT want the most expensive stuff..

its gotta get pretty pricey to dish out 3 completes with all top-of-the-line quality components..

Ok if you're going to offer up such a contest you have to back it up. I'm sure Concrete Wave contacted all the companies to make sure it would be OK to involve them. I dont think CW is the kind of company that would do something like pick the winner based on their choices of boards to save some cash.

The companies included in the buyer's guide had to be among CW's advertisers. That's how you got into that guide in the first place. I'm reasonably positive that CW informed the companies of their obligations before announcing the quiver contest.
