    Default Need help quick!!!

im a big fella, and i just bought a loaded vanguard 42" in the flex 1. i threw some old longboard trucks on it while i was waiting for my randals to arrive. i step on it and the camber is completely flattened and then a bit. this is just when i am in my regular stance, not both feet in the middle.

I have only had it for a couple days, but am having serious doubts. i was thinking about returning it. but since they don't make a stiffer flex, i don't know what to do. I was seriously thinking about taking the money, and buying either a DH race, landy evo, or the Loaded Pintail.

i like to make nice big carves. i was leaning towards buying the evo, but need some supportive words.

kebbek flushcut is not on the list, but it's way better than the dh.

check the deck widths on the dh, mine is 8.5". way too small for my feet.

it's not hard to modify it to take r2 baseplates, i posted a how-to a while ago, search if you want it...

how is your evo setup? does it carve ok?

i looked at the flushcut, but it doesn't quite fit into my budget.

i say dig through the couch till it's in your budget :)

i know the evo is wider than the dh, but it still tapers in the rear. since you want to carve, i'm guessing that your rear foot is going to be going across the deck, rather than facing frontish. if you can, figure out the rear width and compare it to your shoe. i've been riding on boards that are too narrow for a while and have found a great benefit in comfort and confidence on decks that are wide enough for me.

Go for the loaded pintail. It's wider. MUCH wider.

and it comes in five flexes! :P

i think if i were to get a kebbek board, i would go for the jon caften, because it is lowered, and says it is for speed, hard carving, and slides. it looks to be the same board as the evo, but it isn't tapered at the back, and has holes for more trucks. i might take a look at my expences, and see if i can squeeze the extra $$$ out.

I don't have super big feet, but the swift 40 platform is very wide in the center. It tapers on either end, so it might not be to your liking. Scott will make you one as stiff as you want though.
