Minis... so hot right now.
What is with this explosion of mini's? A year ago, they were nowhere to be found, and now everyone is skating one. I mean, i don't mind, skating is sweet, and minis are alot of fun, but it just came out of nowhere...

hmmm.... a mini evo. now that would be sick.

Man mini's are hot cause they're almost like slalom boards, and everyone knows slalom owns. The end.

i dont know about that... minis are like stylish and fun cruisers, slalom boards are like high performance, form-follows-function machines. I love the look and shape of slalom boards, but they are built to go fast and turn sharp, while minis are built to look stylish and pick up babes, they just happen to have really short wheelbases also. When is the last time you saw a hardwood vert-lam slalom board with inlays and clear grip?
slalom is way hardcore, it rules.

Oh that Slalom, he's so hot right now...
I just took the plunge... God it's fun...

minis are in style because of the fact that they are easy to carry yet ride like a longboard so you can carry one with you easily but then ride it as transportation, that way you dont have to lug a huge board
that or its like sports cars very small ones are to make up for a very small penis
oh and on a side note related to the slalom MY AXE IS COMING ON SATURDAY HELLS YEAH

I have to agree. I find it sad that my friend's dad's plastic board pwns every popsicle board I've ever ridden. Birdhouse needs to show a little effort at least once in a while.

All I can say is that if you haven't been on a mini you have got to try it.
I started making retro shaped mini's about 7 years ago and then just came back to them. I have always been a longboarder, but they are fun as hell. And as far as the chicks go...ummm there is nothing good about a chick that says..ah look how small it is...
"This is good stuff. I got it from a Negro. You're probably high already and you don't even know it"

When i had to choose a board to take with me from New Orleans, it was my mini. I think LOTD might have alot to do with it, and it think plastic boards aren't popular because they are not widely available in new condition with updated stuff on them.

..my 29 inch TS Comet is small enough. Its one thing you already have trouble seeing a small board past my beer belly hangin over my oversized brass cowboy buckle...but its another trying to keep my fat feet on an 8" wide board.(or less) They are cute but not on me.

That's a cool-looking deck, Stonedancer!
On plastic: with all the materials and construction capacity we have now, there's no reason to ride old Grentec-style plastic decks. They weren't that good, they don't hold up, they're slippery and not much more than a novelty, now. Trust me, I still have my double-kick GT...
When skaters can build little beauts like those in the ASR coverage, LongBoardLarry's gorgeous mini that we saw in a thread last month, Crass'es retro boards and Brian's (Feral Arts) awesome channeled board from last year, there's no reason for us to ever, every go look to plastic decks again.
Mini's ARE fun. They'll never replace a longboard for me, but what a kick in the pants to pull on out and rip around!
Relax, Don't Worry, Ride Your Longboard.
