SUCTER9 and WHY THEY BLOW
So I am sure you saw that the ASR posting on the home page. Well I got to go with a borrowed badge from my buddy that works for Fox Racing, and it was sick for sure. However, the one thing that pi$$ed me off was the guys at Sucter 9. They were total a$$e$ to people. The big major companies have their booths more like structured buildings and you can't go in and buyers set up appointments to check out the new goods. These punks forgot that they are a longboard company and they started in SD. They all wore suites and moked the fact that they are now richer than hell and don't have to even speak to any of the little people anymore. And I wan't the only one that said something too. Other people were upset that they have lost their roots.
I normally post my hatred for the boards and now I am posting up on all of those guys.
If anyone wants to burn their boards I will through the first match.

Do not judge less ye be judged, seen? It's always shitty to see companies like that lose their roots... but whatever man... I always tell myself that they'll get what they got comin' in due time. I actually like some of my S9 decks... the Mini California flag is a hell of a ditch board. Lost it's pop and shape real quick though

I guess its just one of those things that gets me.. All the other companies were cool. Got to talk to the guys at OS3, Biker at Dregs and even met the guys at GFHurley, and my Idol, Greg Noll.
I am just against the establishment..

Naw man.. don't get me wrong... i TOTALLY feel you. Down with the establishment and all that jazz (sincerely)... I just think that there's no reason to get in a sweat about it... cause it happens to companies in ever industry... and it's never going to change

thats why i buy boards for the passion thats put into em like the board ive got being built and due here begening of october, steve of insect just talking to him u can tell building longboards is somthing he LOVES u can hear in his voice how much fun he has doing it, and Long board larry he shows how much he likes building boards by the BEAUTIFUL look of the boards and read kai's report on the boards they dont just look beautiful i hear they ride awesome ill find out when i get to ride with KC this weekend at a local garage he said he was bringin alot of his quiver, i talked to the guys at S9 and they have the attitude of a stereotypical surfer who is reacting to some one who wants to partake in their local waves who lives outside of the area (nonlocals) their wheels (asside from their new searies) suck as bad as their attitudes and chaput was busy when i called abec 11 but i talked to his wife and even SHE has the passion hes got for his wheels, if people like building the boards it shows in the final product if its just another day cutin some wood and painting it its not gunna turn out as good

You may dislike how sector 9 is currently run, but they got a lot of people into longboarding.
My first board was a CR2, but i got it with randals, and I love it.
After that I bought a mini carve, and i'm working my way up (or down) the line to the smaller and more individualized companies like Landyachtz and Insect.

The bamboo decks look and feel awesome...
Someone mentioned how Steve from Insect has the love for the stoke in his vioce. Well Mary Chaput does too. I called Abec11 to sort out a wheel problem and she was asking me about my setup and sounded excited. It was a very cool thing.

No need to, I'll do it for you.
Mark's statement X2.
Loose trucks may save lives, but they won’t save you any money on your car insurance.
Switch to Mile High Skates today to find out how you can save money on your next skate purchase.
WARNING: Longboarding IS more addictive then crack.

The whole "core" thing no longer applies, IMO. Now core means that 80% of your inventory is shoes, clothing, and other softgoods, while the remaining 20% is relegated to boards.

Exactly my point, which I didn't make very well, haha. You and Solidskate, really, have been the only place for most people to get a good variety of longboard stuff. Longskate has been very good to me, but it seems like its sort of stagnant right now. It's really not economically viable for most brick-and-mortar shops to have a good longboard selection. They just don't have enough local market for it. In Austin, Tekgnar does the best it can, but they just don't have the market to order all the different ABEC11 wheels, Crail trucks, etc, etc. Good online shops are really the only good option, since they have a potential worldwide market without the overhead of a physical storefront.

I had a completely opposite experience with Sector 9 last month... we met Rob Molt and several of the S9 crew when they were in NYC to schmooze the top local distributors here. Rob posted an invitation on the Freshpaved NYC forum for ANYONE to come out and ride Central Park, then threw a party and bought everyone drinks (we did shots of Makers Mark and threw darts). Rob wasn't in a suit -- he was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and his arm was scratched from wrist to shoulder after wiping out on a hill in Montauk earlier that day. They handed out free hats and dvds, and showed everyone new boards -- treated us really nice (distributors AND us pleebs who showed up from Freshpaved).
Those huge conventions much blow, cos in person these guys seem really down to earth and just want to ride and sell some boards... and I don't even ride Sector 9 (probably never will).
