Flying to Aussie land
In january i'm flying to aussieland (cairns) for 3 weeks, i definantly want to bring a longboard with me, what's the best way, i was either thinking on bringing the Landyachtz B-Side or should i try to get somthing like the Lil Gaffer from them and bring it? What's the best way to get one on an international flight? I know i could carryon the Gaffer, but what would i do with the B-Side, how could i make sure it makes it there in one piece?[/url]

Well I would almost say just take it on the flight with you. Put the trucks in your luggage and just carry the deck. If you are sitting next to someone you know, just put it on the ground and have your feet on it. Or throw it in the overhead bin. I took my BE40 on the way there and cameback with the BE40 and a Landy DH, no problems at all. They fit very nicely into the overhead compartment. good luck.

Yeah, i called LandYachtz and decided i'm going to get a LilGaffer with Skyhooks, and i'm going to just strap it to my carryon bag.

You probably won't be able to take it on the plane with you, and I wouldn't recommend it either, because if some hostie thinks you've got a 'weapon' on you, they'll take it away, and you might not get it back...
It's not as if you need it on the flight anyways, and once you get out in Brsibane or Sydney, you can just unpack it and ride away! I just wouldn't take the risk.
So how long are you in Aust for? You should make the trip to see A-Drain and his store up that way, well worth it, I'm sure.
If you come down south, come to Canberra, this place rips for skating.

Terran,
I am based in Townsville which is about 200 miles south of Cairns (4 hours drive). If you get a chance to come down this way give me a call (07) 4775 4044 and we'll take you out for a roll somewhere. Will be able to lend you a board as well so you don't need to worry about what you have with you. I have a Lil Gaffa and it is great. Rides like a longboard but is soooo short. Biggest problem I have is getting footbite when riding (problem with having size 12's).
Hope to hear from you while you are here.
Cheers

I wish i could, but i'm unfortunatly going to be in Cairns the whole time with no real mode of transportation except for my board. My total travel time there is like 40 hours. I'm going BOS to Dallas, Dallas to LAX (8 hour layover in LAX), LAX to Brisbane, and Brisbane to Cairns. Ack, that's like a a day and a half of travel. Is that normal?

I hope this is not to late. Can you dive/snorkel?
Make sure you get up to Port Douglas and go on the Quicksilver reef tour.
Don`t go on day trips out of Cairns they are kinda lame compaired to what you`ll get out of Port D.
The reef is by far the best thing in North Qld. Plan on spending as much time as possible exploring it.

Just don`t swim on the local beachs and you`ll be right!
Out on the reef they are very few and far between, you`d be more likely to die on the plane trip than get nailed by a jellyfish.
