Hey Jules, I'll be your internet skate buddy and if you ever come down to Austin, TX.
Will take you to our fav spots and then to some good mexican food then more riding, you see you do have buddys. Now SMILE
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, cold beer in one hand - longboard in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, Yeaa Haaa What A Ride!!!

Thanks Marbles. I absolutely love Austin, it's the best city in Texas. We visit my mom in Oklahoma twice yearly ... I'll be closer to Texas but not quite enough for a skate.

Still, thank you for being my internet skate buddy. I don't feel so all alone with the Fish and all the great folks who post here.

If it makes you feel any better Jules I skate alone also. There are some teenagers I talk to at the local park, but it isn't the same as having people your own age. There's an old man club nearby, but it's out of the way and the transition they ride is a bit big for my knees. Anyhow let me know if you ever hit the south.

I do feel better...when I'm out there skating in the park, lots of people are interested in my longboard but no one has one...if I had two or three regular friends to skate with, that would be the total bomb. I carry all my board in the Xterra so that if I did have a friend to ride with they'd have something to ride (and pads and a helmet).

Right now on occasion my daughter goes with me...she's 12. I'm also trying to recruit riders, but snow got in the way. Usually, when it's time to skate, I skate alone.

Thanks for the support to all of you old farts like me out there. At least we all know we exist. That counts for a lot.

    Peace,

    Jules

    Dave,

I stand by my statement. Considering I'm a crone at 47 and you are a younger fart of only 45, I believe I can safely say "old." Now, if we were to consider the number of titanium parts versus non-manmade materials in our respective bodies, I'm more biologically compatible than you are. From a biophotonic perspective, a CAT scan would prove that my physical appearance is that of a fairly normal 47 year old woman, while yours might be compared to that guy, what's his name who starred in Bionic Man?

Since I've seen that show and it was probably before your time, I'm the pot calling the kettle black.

So now you're calling me an "old fart in a black kettle"?
I never cred much for LEE MAJORS but loved the intro..It was an X-3 lifting wing that crashed over Edwards AFB and that was far from "before my time" Now...I can relate more to being the "Fall Guy" or better yet, the Guy that Falls

I'm proud to be an old fart. I love the one-liners I get from kids at skateparks. I think the best one yet was from this little guy that looked up at me and said, "Wow, you're really good at skating. Well you-know, for your age anyway."

Man, that was a funny picture. And it's not just the young ones who give us a hard time either. Me, I have to deal with these big buff guys who think they are hunks at ski resorts who are absolutely out of line all the time. They think I'm some dumb snowboarder chick, and don't realize that I'm really the "lady" in the picture, wearing a red dress and holding a pistol.

Recently a typical big tall buff 40 something EMT ski patrol guy comes over to our table where I'm having a few beers with my Out of Control Ski Club buddies after riding all day.

They had already pointed him out to me cos he was hitting on some blond chick and her friends and we were watching the carnage.... before I know it, my friends are off getting beers and he plops himself down in front of me at our table with what he considered a snappy one liner. The conversation went something like this:

So, those women over there were talking about breast augmentation and I tried to talk them out of it.

What did you say? I asked politely.

I told them they should forget about the breast augmentation and just learn how to give really good blow jobs.

I had to think what to say for a second...after all, a few beers does loosen the tongue.

Oh, so you give good blow jobs? I ask. He turns beet red.

I GET GOOD BLOW JOBS ALL THE TIME he yells. I'M GETTING ONE TOMORROW NIGHT!

Oh, I see, so that's why you are trying to get women to give you blow jobs today? I ask sweetly.

My friends are back and they start cracking up. No, I know what happens.... your mom your brother and your dog start...

He scuttles off to fresher bait.

Yeah, we may be getting older but I guess we still look like fresh meat.

Now Jules, you shouldn't abuse children like that - especially those manly-man EMT types*.

As for that picture of Divine, that is the living embodiment of the attitude all of the females in my family possess in spades.

My sister once figuratively castrated a gentleman in the middle of a department store during the height of the Christmas season. He was hitting on her so she played along till she got him to the middle of a crowded up escalator. Once locked in, my darling older five foot nothing sister slapped the snot out of him and shouted "For the last time, you cannot pay me to have sex with you!".
At the top of the escalator, she smiled sweetly at him and said "Have a nice Day!" then walked away.
Attempting to stalk her afterwards would have resulted in literal castration and he knew it.

*on the other hand, balding paunchy boarder wannabe EMT types that sling one-liners incessantly are fair game...

Dang, she's got to be from Texas. Me, I grew up in Lawton Oklahoma, so you could say I'm almost from Texas. We had the same hot summer nights and the same cold crappy beer.
