Default Longboarding help. Preparing for a big hill.

Hey, im new to silverfish and wanted to ask a quick question. Im a pretty good longboarder not bad not great. Back on to subject so im preparing for this hill called Rose. Its big for me cause where only 14 and way like 90-110 lbs. so i know how to colemans but want to learn how to suck them back in how do i do this? Do you like lean/rotate back in. cause you go about 40 on this hill from what i have heard from my friends brother so i want to slow down? When i coleman it just goes back but i know how to coleman/standie type where you hold it out then i cant suck it in,and where should i grab the board?
    My setup is
    Landy,Drop speed
O'tang Stims or Durians, Which would be better for sliding and control?
    Paris 180's.

If your leaning back with both knees extended, you can drop your back knee along the rail of the board to help weight it, and keep you close. Also make sure you keep your hand closely behind you. Other than that i would practice the transition between tuck and coleman, and start sliding at higher speeds.

dont skate the hill if you cant pull back your colemans yet.. just keep practicing on slower hills so you can get them down. and what helps a lot for pulling back colemans in my opinion is to look over your shoulder so you keep looking downhill

Agreed, if you can't pull them off yet then don't do the hill.
You can always learn to do a heelside pendy instead of a coleman...the overall mechanics of bringing the slide back the second 180 will be similar to pulling back in a coleman.
Lead with your shoulders and rotate them.

Dude please do not dive right into a 40mph hill when you have major questions like this. Start from halfway down or lower depending on the length of the hill and as you get comfortable start from higher and higher up.

Yeah, if you're not confident in your skill level, you shouldn't be skating.

Now, if you do go, take the hill from 3/4 of the way down, or 1/4 from the bottom. It sounds like you can practice your colemans fine from there.

I do believe that footbraking used to be an event in the first X-Games if I'm not mistaken.

heheh; that´s funny. They just rode down a hill and footbreaked? Wonder why they stopped having that in the x-games

Use a tire from a motorcycle or something. My soles have hold up so long that the shoes are so old that they fall apart in the seams instead.

    On a related note:
It is not always optimal and/or possible to slide, so I think footbreaking is the most important thing to learn. They work every time.

I like to bend over and breath really deep and hard, then snap back up really fast so my head gets all cloudy and I see spots. Then before I gain my balance back, I start bombing down the hill.

    You got it.
They'd all get to a certain speed and see who was the best footbraker by coming to a stop in the shortest distance.
    Style points were also awarded

As a final round tie breaker, the two final opponents would basically have a face off
Each rider would take turns skating down a ramp, and there was a large brick wall at the bottom.
Simply put, stop before hitting the wall. After each round the brick wall was moved closer to the foot of the ramp until the final rider would succeed as the x-games world champion footbraker.
