    Default Need more speed!

So how much difference do yous reckon a nice soft set of Kryps will make to the speed of a board? I've got some 70mm wheels on a board at the mo, which seem quite hard. Was thinking of replacing them with either Classics or Hawaiis. As far as I can make out the Hawaiis are double radiused, whereas the classics are radiused outside only. Also, do both have offset hubs? Would be mainly cruising on them, but may want to slide occasionally...

if you still wanna slide, don't get route 65's or 70's. Ubersoft wheels. i heard that Hawaii's are hard enough to slide, so go from there.

    Default bearings

I'm convinced, all else being equal, that bearings make the biggest difference in speed. I went from Abec 5's, to BSB Swiss, and there's a HUGE difference. My board rolls if it even thinks there's a decline 8) Much longer coast time on the flats, much faster acceleration on hills...

Ah! I've got Bones Reds on my home made board, 65mm Kryps Cruise wheels and it FLIES compared to my Lib Tech with ABEC5 Speed Demons in the cheapo wheels that came with the board. Maybe I'll get me some more Reds!

Went for the Route 70s in the end... Board now flies!!! Have yet to try sliding, but suspect that'll be hard work!

I'm now of the opinion that the big improvement came 'cause I ordered some spacers with the Route 70s and they fit properly! I can tighten up the wheel nut and the wheels spin for ages, unless I really over tighten the nut. Am using the same bearings.

Did some of my first real slides yesterday on red Route 70's... but I have to admit that I cheated. The hill is closed to normal traffic 'cuz o'major construction, and the asphalt has a layer of sandy dirt all over it. Couldn't carve without sliding, so I practiced sliding! :o And running a stop sign.
