Default Quadline decks.. only the deck.

Alright I fell victim to the quadline hype (this is my first longboard). I wanted a board to get me around town and the ads got to me. I know I know... stupid me. Anyway. Skates on Haight shipped me the wrong board (seems to be a blessing) and gave me a quadline deck with Randal 150s and Sector 9 70mm 75a wheels. Question is, are the quadline decks big peices of crap too, or is it just the trucks and wheels?

    P.S.

Comes with generic "Abec 5" bearings. Think I should throw some Bones Reds or Swiss on there?

Sick. Does that mean you came out on top price wise, too?
The deck probably sucks but as long as it stays in one piece I'd keep it.
Bearings are just bearings if you're cruising.

Yeah I was suppose to get the old school pool deck with the quadline wheels on it, but got the Pirhana Deck
instead. The board I got is 20$ more then the board I was suppose to get. I guess I got lucky. Woo this is good news.

One quick question: should I cruise in the rain for my first time, or just wait for dry weather? I'll just be skating flat land or a real gentle slope, no hills.

Should I cover the big QUADLINE label with a big Descendents sticker?

    1. If you ride it, it doesn't matter what brand it is. It could say "Walmart" on the bottom, and as long as you actually rode it around, I'd be happy.
    2. Your bearings are fine. For your next set, go for something like Bones Reds (a great value for bearings), but for now, just use the stock bearings. The difference will be small, and you wouldn't even notice now anyway. Just use these ones till they are trashed, then upgrade.
    3. Your trucks and wheels are fine too. As you get used to longboarding, you'll start finding out if you want things a little tighter or looser, and you can shop for bushings to try out. But for now, just ride.
    4. Enjoy the mistake that came up in your favor, and ride that bad boy!

    peace,
    sam

    PS The decendents are cool.

Yeah the Descendents are cool, and the sticker I got for free, and it's pretty big. Need a place to put it. I think longboarding is going to be the first hobby where I don't let the gear get in the way of actually going out and having fun. Thanks for everything.

Stickers make you ride faster, slap it on there. And to answer all your questions, go skate!

Yeah I'm just going to go skate in the rain and have some fun. They are cheap bearings any way.

I just had some fun. Just was carving down a street with a slight slope for a mile. Intersections got a little sketchy at first, but I figured out how to stop eventually. Hit a deep crack in the pavement that sent me foward, didn't fall, but had to get off the board none the less. Can't wait till I have dry weather. Loads of fun.
