you could go off word of mouth, riding a friends board. seeing some people's quivers on here, 10 companies doesn't seem too hard to manage.

if you can't get ten then do as many as you can

Everybody's listing four niche brands and refusing to go outside of it. I haven't ridden very many boards in my time, as I don't have the money. A list of Ten major companies, without rank, and as discussed on this forum or as having gathered renown would be:

1. LBL
2. Motion
3. Rayne
4. Landyachtz
5. Sector 9
6. Subsonic
7. Gravity
8. Comet
9. Loaded
10. Lush

There's about five other companies that could be put on this list, such as Kebbek and G&S, but they don't have the diversity of decks some of these other companies have achieved. It goes down to personal preference, and really, you're asking for a Top 10 out of a grand total of about 17 to 20 companies. It would be interesting to see an actualy market share listing... Obviously Sector 9 would be No. 1, at least here in the States.

Five Points Skates, Loaded, Independent, Abec 11/Retro, Powell/Powell-Peralta/Bones, Khiro, Gravity, Rock Ron, Black Label/Emergency, Santa Cruz/Creature.

it was realy hard ot order that... all of them are realy great companies.

as I have only ridden my own boards I cannot say from experience.....
but I would think some of the nicer boards are made by the independent builders such as:
Chicago Longboards
Roggs (loki)
Wefunk
LongboardLarry
the list goes on..........

the reason they are better than any other boards is that builders like these will custom build specifically to your needs, do beautiful work, and many of them can do composite materials as well.

just my opinion.
