Re: home made vs. bought
so far i realy like the ride of a board that i've made just for me for exactly the type of ridding i want to do.. so the only time i buy a board is for street or park cause i havnt figured out how to do that yet...

Re: home made vs. bought
I have never ridden a homeade for more than a couple of weeks.
I got somthing against riding a board I made or painted. I find all the mistakes and end up getting pissed off.

Buy, exclusively. My Dad used to say "To each his own trade". Solid advice
for a townhouse dweller in a metro domain without the primary resources to
satisfy those type of creative inclinations.
I am enjoying watching other SF'ers produce some interesting looking decks,
however, and learning about the process along the way as well.

Re: home made vs. bought
there's just something more satisfying about riding a board you built yourself 8)
although i did buy a landy DH; that's the kind of thing i just can't make myself

Re: home made vs. bought
I'm all about the homemade decks. I actually got back into skating BECAUSE of home made decks. I saw a homemade deck, got excited, and then decided to build one myself. Now I've got two, and there are drawings for two V-lams and a drop-deck getting put together. Plus there are rolls of fiberglass and carbon in the basement.
I did have a lot of tools already, and some woodworking experience, but I'm not a professional craftsmen, just a hobbyist. I slowly bought tools over a long time, so it didn't feel expensive.
The best thing about building decks, is that you have lots of money left over for trucks and wheels. I can buy nice trucks, set them up properly, buy nice bearings, and nice wheels, and have my total complete cost come in at about the same price as an S9, and be much better.
Plus, when ladies say, "Wow, nice board!" I can say, "I made it with my own hands!" and they say, "Oooo, if your hands can work miracles like that, I'd love to see what ELSE they can work..." and then we go home and I show her the magic of my strong, but tender hands.
Note: That doesn't really happen. But a man can dream, rigth?
peace,
sam

Re: home made vs. bought
my riding tends to be 50/50 but I do spend a bit more time on my homemade boards. I do own more store bought boards tho right now but that is starting to change. if only i had a good work area and some nicer tools.......

Re: home made vs. bought
I'm riding 1/5 right now....excluding hand-made boards (that I've bought), otherwise it'd be 3/3
