My friend took me to a car park I hadn’t been to before on Sunday and it was great fun. It was only three levels and no lift but it was one short flight of stairs back to the top. Entire run was less than a minute.
Anyway after doing the run two or three times a security guard popped up. I very politely said to him “Um, this is not going to be a problem is it?” and he said “Nah, just don’t grind on the concrete and rails like some kids have here.” He showed us the damage that other skaters had done.
I said to him that we weren’t doing anything like that, we were just there for the ride, and he was totally cool with it. What a great guy!!
I think that he was watching us on CCTV. And who wouldn’t? If I was monitoring an empty car park on a Sunday morning, I think watching some longboarders for an hour or so would be entertaining.
Moral of the story- be polite and don’t cause damage and we can have really cool places to ride.
