Re: got hit by car, hypercarve snapped
any company that claims they "own" a shape or style of board is full of ####. The vibe I've gotten from the gravity people I've met suggests they wouldn't mind someone using there shape on a blank, especially to replace one of theirs that met an unfortunate end! Its all about the ride. Now if you were to go into production with that shape and call it the Zavity Zyper Zarve thats a different story! But you know better then that Bottom line IMO: Don't ever feel like you're obligated to give a company your money for a ride, thats not what skating is about and thats not why most of the skate manufacturers we love started or keep rolling boards out the door!
Sucks about your luck, but you may just find riding something you shaped is very rewarding. You may even be able to adress any issues you had with your previous deck. What things did you like and not like about the shape? evolve it along those lines!

Re: got hit by car, hypercarve snapped
My original Custom 45 got ran over in Ohio. The trucks died so I got 75 bucks to buy new ones from the person who hit it.

hyper carves are pretty inept decks anyway, really small wheel cutouts no camber concave or anything, big heavy planks, they are only worth that $18

i have a question though, by doing this am i being lame to gravity? its just that i dont have the cash to buy a new hypercarve deck but i do have the cash for an 18 dollar blank. i'd make my own shapeb ut i love the hyper's shape way too much..
glad to hear you didnt get snapped in half.
i dont think gravity cares at all. i mean, it's not like your cutting several decks out, calling them "hyper carve" and selling them. one of the first homemade decks i cut was from tracing the hyper carve and making the deck a little wider.

not enept decks at all, i have a hypercarve and i love it.
Outcarves my friends boards for sure, and the cut outs make the wheels not bite nomatter how loose my wheels are, last time i checked... thats what they are there for - so your point is moot.
They are stable at speed, look great, carve even better, and are 100 bucks cheaper than most of the boards people would reccomend over them...
to each his own but, theres a lot of people that swear by that board.

im sure i could 'out carve' a lot of people on a hyper carve, but its not a great board in my opinion

Sounds like a killer idea, just make sure you get the shape and mounting holes down right. Post pictures when it's done!

Alot of people's first longboard too... and with stock Tracker Darts and hourglass bushings, you can't ask for much more for a first board.
I started riding my HyperCarve when I was a complete noob but even after four years I still enjoy taking it out for a ride.
