First Ride in 10+ Years

I just got back from cruising around town for the first time... in 10+ years.

It was great to feel the wind caress my face and the "thump-thump" of wheels on the sidewalk cracks. The feeling of floating on air was amazing as well. This is my first longboard. I used to be a street skater in my younger days. It feels good to experience the sensation of rolling again. It feels good to get some exercise (I'm not in shape).

The board rolls so smooth on those big soft wheels. I was afraid of not having the option to do kick turns but the control the trucks give in carving is nice. I had to bail only a couple of times.

I passed by a police car in an intersection. I thought "oh man, the funs over now" but to my amazement nothing happened. Then I passed two other police. I thought "maybe they are waiting for me to do something technically against the law". But I cruised and cruised with no intervention. Of course I was being reasonable at intersections and such.

At one point someone yelled "Skate on!" from their car. Insult? Cheer from another skater? Not quite sure. Either way I couldn't agree more.

Skate on!

Way to get back on the horse... Or plank as the case may be. Riding is just one of those wonderful zen experiences that people who don't do it will never fully understand. It's also fantastic excercise, yet at the same time it's a lot of fun so it's not this dull regimented routine. I also noticed that cops don't really hassle longboarders either. I've even done some pedestrian slalom without any pigs intervening. My advice is to find yourself a nice mellow hill to session, nothing beats nice big carves down a hill.

Longboarding just gets better and better. It's true nobody can understand the gr8ness of it untill you own one. I can't even step on a measilly skateboard anymore and when skateboarders try to step on my longboard they can't handle it. My longboard is dead after yesterday tho and I am waiting for my new one (Kracked Skulls m1).

A number of things.

The feeling of freedom I experience when cruising. It is still there after all those years.
Side benefits of exercise.

Right on, I'm in the exact same boat. Except its been about 15 yrs. I've had my new board for only a week and am totally hooked.

Awesome! Must be an awesome feeling! Dont want to make you feel old or anything but that seems like a lloongngggg time to me, being that its 2/3's my lifetime

Good to hear the cops didnt hassle you... I have only been yelled at for not wearing a helmet when cruising around but perhaps legally thats only for minors, other then that I have never had a cop bug me...

Except for my after curfew night skate sessions but thats a different issue completly
